Comfort at its finest

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love the old school style of the synchilla finally picked one up for myself. Super soft, quality fleece, thick enough to seem durable but not overdone. I could wear this daily.

Fit is a bit different than most patagonia I have come across. I am 5'8 and 135lbs and conventional wisdom would tell me to rock a small in patagonia. A friend advised a medium and he was right. The small was a bit narrow in the shoulder (i have wider shoulders). I tried them both and went for a comfortable fit. The arms are slightly long for me but the shoulders for the small just didnt feel right.

I am looking to buy this for a friend of mine who is 150 lbs and 6'0''. What size should i buy?

Responded on

Meg,
medium should probably do the trick.

So frickin comfy

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

This fleece is ridonkulously soft and comfy. It's like being wrapped in clouds made of cotton candy. *Soft* cotton candy. Not that granular stuff that hurts your tongue after a day of eating it.

There are only two things I don't like about the fleece, but I can't really fault Patagonia for them. The first is that because this is a lightweight fleece, wind just rips right through it. That's not a problem when you're lounging in a bar or hanging out by the campfire, but if it's blustery out then you're gonna freeze. This then leads to the second problem; because it is a relaxed, loose, fit layering can be hard. It's easy to fit clothing on under it (not sure why you would) but wearing a jacket over it can be very uncomfortable. The fleece gets all bunched up under my arms and I feel like a penguin. An awkward penguin.

Even with these two issues, I still wear mine all the time. If you're on the fence about it, I say go for it. It's a timeless piece that will always look cool.

Great Fleece, runs large

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

This fleece is extremely comfortable and not too clunky. It fits snuggly around the waists and wrists. It does run quite large though, which is why I had to return it. If the small was in, definitely would have gone for that instead. Great fleece though!
