Whether you\222re enjoying splitter weather on a 10-pitch rock route or cutting turns in spring corn, the Patagonia Men\222s Lightweight Guide Pant provides the perfect blend of lightweight protection and stretchy comfort. Patagonia added reinforcements to the knees for durability and scuff guards to hold up to crampons and ski edges. The zippered gussets feature an elastic cuff to keep snow out, and the gusseted crotch gives you full range of motion whether you\222re bending into a tele turn or highstepping to the next foothold.

Bottom Line: Savor the ups and downs with the Lightweight Guide Pant.

Amazing

I absolutely LOVE these pants. They are so comfortable to wear and are so water and wind resistant, yet are so breathable. I wore these up on Mt. Baker for 3 days and I was always in these and are almost always wearing them when I'm on Rainier. I am 5' 10" and the Mediums first perfectly. If I could afford more pairs I would be wearing these everyday! I was a bit hesitant on how the lightweight guide pant would compare to the standard one and I think for 3 season use these are the ones you want.

I want to love these pants, I really do. The material, the weight, the comfort, the details all great. My one and only problem with them is the length. If you're a shorter guy they're just too long. The scuff guards are the main culprit. They don't allow the pant leg to fall easily past your boats or shoes and you end up with bulging all the way up your shins.

If you're tall(er), buy 'em, they're great.

Incorrect Sizing

By:

I only gave these pants one star, but the problem is not the pants it is the sizing. I ordered two pairs, one grey and one black, both size small. I tried on the grey ones and loved them. I would definitely give them five stars. Then I tried on the black ones and I could barely get them on. Then I realized that the zippered fly on the black pair was about half the length of the fly on the grey pair. Upon closer inspection it appears that the black pair are actually women’s pants. They are labeled as being men’s, but they are clearly not the same pants as the grey version. This is a total bummer because the grey pants fit perfectly (I’m 6’ 150lbs with a 30” waist). By the way, if you are tall and thin these fit way better than the standard alpine guide pants which I also ordered and were about two inches shorter. I really wish Patagonia would get its sizing issues taken care of.

Now I have to mail the black version back to Backcountry and they are all out of the grey…

The picture is of the grey and black pants together. Both are labeled as Men's Small, but the black pants are clearly not the same size as the grey pants.
