The Patagonia Boys' Dynamite Duo Jacket gives you two ways to beat the cold. Well, perhaps not two ways but two looks; on one side, you can show off the sporty striped recycled nylon that also blocks wind, rain, and snow. Or, on the other hand, you can turn it inside out to get the look of a cozy fleece hoody. The Thermogreen insulation is sandwiched between these two layers, so you enjoy it no matter which way you wear the jacket.

Bottom Line: Dynamite either way.

Is this jacket appropriate for skiing? Looking for a warm wind/water

Is this jacket appropriate for skiing? Looking for a warm wind/water resistant jacket for VT skiing for my 6 year old-he will stay out there for hours. He usually wears Hot Chili's and thin fleece under coat so there is not too much bulk. Thanks!

You bet! This should keep him plenty warm while playing on the slopes. It is very well insulated, practically windproof, and water resistant. Notice that it is a “regular” fit, making it perfect for layering. Fitting a base layer and a fleece under this jacket will be no problem at all. My only complaint about this design would be the cuffs, as they are a little loose and lack a closure device. However, this won’t be an issue as long as he has a pair of full-cuff gloves to slide them into. Just remember, fuzzy side in on storm days!

If you're little guy likes lightweight but not puffy the Tribbles would be a great jacket. The jacket is fleece luned, with medium/light insulation as well. A great cozy choice for playing outside when it's chilly.
