Description

The perfect complement to a heaping bowl of pow.

There’s nothing like the feeling of floating through untracked freshies, and there’s nothing like the protection provided by the Patagonia Women’s Insulated Powder Bowl Jacket. An 2-layer Gore-Tex Performance Shell waterproof breathable barrier and 60 grams of recycled Thermogreen insulation keep the worst winter conditions at bay, and attached loops connect to Patagonia ski jackets for a snowproof seal. Patagonia also added reinforced scuff guards to deal with sharp ski edges and thigh zip vents to dump excess heat.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I live and ski in Canada so I wanted the warmest Gore-Tex pants I could get and these seemed like they would work. I've skied all season on them and even in spring conditions, my legs are red from the cold when I take them off. Right by where the zippers are on the legs. They have a nice flattering cut and not too long like other brands. I usually wear a 6 or an 8 and medium is great through the legs, hip and waist when I'm standing straight up, but the buttons pop open constantly. They are flimsy and terrible! I have a good inch of gap in the waist when I'm standing up, so they're not skin tight in the waist, and I can bend fully over to pick something off the ground, but as I make my turns on the ski hill, the buttons pop open. It is so annoying. I wear a belt with them to stop it, but they will still sometimes come open. Not impressed since these are supposed to be ski pants.

I bought the Insulated Powder Bowl pants for my wife and she loves them. No more complaints about being too cold! The insulation is great for chilly days sitting on the chairlift, and the Gore-Tex keeps her nice and dry. She usually wears a size small and small here is right on the money.

The majority of my outerwear is Patagonia and was excited to get a new pair of ski pants that were Gore-Tex, insulated and had vents. I am 5'8", 137lbs and usually wear a size medium or 4-6. The medium size was HUGE in the waist (2+ inches bigger then my waist), granted they do have belt loops and velcro tabs in the inside to sinch them up, but when I did it was not flattering or comfortable. I did try a pair of smalls which did fit (if they were a pair of regular pants...) but they did not have enough give for the advanced/expert skiing that I do. Very disappointed in the sizing. If they would have fit, I think I would have loved them.

Thank you for your comment I am 5'9" 136lbs [34/26/38] and was looking at the mediums in this pant until I read your review. I usually wear a 8-10 though, so maybe your waist is smaller than mine.

I am a 5'8 140pnd and the medium didn't fit me either. Way to baggy and too big in the waist. I almost ordered the small until I read your review - still want to be able to move. Such a bummer because the insulation is so nice and they seem like real good quality.
