    For boys who run cool.

Other than a flat-billed cap and pants that hang low in the rear, the only thing your budding skater dude is missing is the Patagonia Boys' Infurno Jacket. He skates so long as he can see some pavement, so why not keep him warm and in fashion, since he's going to be outside regardless of what you say. This jacket hangs a bit longer than others, so it will protect the top inch of his undies. A sturdy nylon faille shell fends of speed-generated wind, and a generous helping of pile fleece keeps his core warm. Thermogreen insulation in the sleeves keep his arms warm as they windmill frantically to keep him from falling. The straight cut and multiple pockets give your son an air of utility, keeping in line with his too-cool-for-style persona.

    Patagonia Boys Infurno Jacket

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

I bought this for my god-son and love the quality. The jacket is not only warm but very lightweight! He loves the fleece inside and the outer fabric blocks out the cold wind.

    The Perfect All-Rounder

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I had to buy the next size to have on hand as my son is so in love with it he is already worried about growing out of it. This is just a great piece. Its very warm but not so warm that its not everyday functional. Its also hyper easy to wash - just drop it in the washer. The DWR is extremely durable. Add a fleece Jkt under it and its good to go for 0º temps. Note it does not allow the hood to be synched down or a draw string at the hem. I will be storing these for his kids.

Even cooler in the photo he's pointing up at Tommy Caldwell & Kevin Jorgeson sending the Dawn Wall on El Cap free for the first time!!! This Jkt has seen history!

    The Perfect All-Rounder

    Great All-Purpose Jacket!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

My kids are basically outside all winter--skiing, sledding, snowman building, snowball throwing, and sometimes just going to school takes place in a blizzard. I'm not ready for them to have multiple jackets yet--a warm winter coat for school and playing, and a shell for layering when they are on the slopes, so the Inferno Jacket has been the perfect compromise.

This jacket is lined (so soft!) so it provides an extra layer of warmth and I know it's a good jacket to send him to school in and keep him warm outside playing. But it's not too warm or bulky for an all-day ski day, and we can still layer up with a fleece underneath to ensure he's warm, or just a capilene on sunny days.

The length is perfect and keeps snow from going up his back in even the deepest powder, and the water rolls right off. The pockets are big and perfect for stashing a few snacks and there is even a front zipper pocket--it fits his ski pass perfectly.

This really is our go-to jacket for all our winter adventures, and you can't beat the price, especially since it's Patagonia and we know we will pass it down (and down and down) after he outgrows it.

My guy is 9 (he's pretty little for his age) and he's wearing the Medium.
