Give winter chills the bird.

Shrug off cold and biting temps with the Patagonia Men's Hi-Loft Down Jacket. Thermal efficiency is the name of the game when you're hunkered down at altitude, and with a generous dose of high loft 600-fill goose down, this jacket insulates your core so you stay nice and toasty when winter weather would have it otherwise. Recycled ripstop fabric puts up with a bit of abuse, and a DWR coating sheds moisture. Since the jacket is insulated with traceable down, you can rest assured that no geese were force-fed or live-plucked to make this jacket.

  • 100% recycled polyester ripstop
  • DWR finish
  • 600-fill down insulation
  • Regular fit
  • Insulated hood
  • Zippered hand pockets

Don't want to take it off

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size
  • Height: 6'0"
    Weight: 195 lbs
    Size Purchased: Large

I got this jacket a couple months ago to use for my daily jacket this winter, and could not be happier. In the past I have had slightly lighter insulated jackets, and the bit of extra insulation on this hi-loft version make it so much better for the super cold days. It truly makes me more excited to go outdoors, which is what it's all about. And it is still just light/thin enough to wear into the office and around town without looking like a Michelin man.

At first glance it seems like a very basic, low-tech jacket. After using it a couple months you realize that that is probably because they haven't changed it for decades, because it works perfectly.

Sizing is true to size and typical of Patagonia, I am 6' 195lbs and the Large is perfect. I can wear anything from a t-shirt to a hoodie under it comfortably.

Light and warm

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size
  • Height: 5'9"
    Weight: 150 lbs
    Size Purchased: Medium

This jacket was a life saver on a recent cold weather trip. The hood adds tremendous amount of warmth. The construction of baffles makes this jacket much warmer than a similar weight jacket from Marmot. The cuffs are also much better, very comfortable. The jacket is reasonably light, about 440 grams on my scale. Highly recommended.

How much warmer is this jacket vs. the regular Down Sweater jacket. I am looking for something a little warmer than the Down Sweater that I have.

This is definitely a little warmer than the Down Sweater, maybe 30% warmer?

Is your down sweater hooded? The hood alone increases comfort due to your neck and most of your head being covered. That said, I have both the regular down hoody and the hi-loft. I find the regular keeps me fairly warm down into the 30s. Once temps dip into the 20s and teens, the hi-loft is where it's at-- toasty warm even while I'm wearing only a short sleeved polo underneath. Also, I have to say that the hi-loft just feels cozy and comfortable to wear, whereas my regular down hoody feels more like a jacket. I look forward to temperatures dropping just so I can wear my hi-loft hoody :D
