love it!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I use it as my daily diaper bag and love it! Quick to access and wear it over my shoulder/back so that I can still easily carry kids on my hips. With 2 kids under the age of 2, there is lots of stuff to tote around and this has plenty of room for the necessities but not enough room to shove lots of extras that I don't really need! Going on vacation in a couple weeks and I'm so glad we got this before the trip because it will be much easier to keep with us as we tour DC than a traditional over-the-shoulder diaper bag.

Disappointing

I have been using a Half Mass for the last 4 years on daily commutes, trips, and general around town excursions. It was starting to get a little ratty, so i wanted to grab a new one.

I was really disappointed when I got this version, however. It seems like Patagonia stripped the whole bag down to save costs or something. It has way fewer pockets and places to stow stuff, the laptop sleeve is flimsy and doesn't close, the strap adjustment is a single plastic ring, instead of the old quick release. Overall the bag just feels cheap now. It's too bad, the old bag was the perfect commuter, but now i'm going to have to find something else to replace it.

Pretty good

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been using this bag for a few months on a daily bike commute. It's nice and waterproof, and looks pretty stylish. It's the perfect size for a laptop, notebook, even a pair of shoes. I also like how the bag size is adjustable for when I need to fit bigger things in.

But I don't like how low it sits on my back when I ride. I'm a smaller guy (5'8, 150), and even after adjusting the straps it's a pain to get it to stay up off the lowest part of my back. I also don't like the organizational pockets all that much. They're tough to get into when you've got stuff in the bag.

But I've taken a few spills in it and it's held up pretty well.

Tough but still looks professional

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

What a great upgrade. After years of using an old hemp bag, having this well constructed weatherproof bag has been a joy. The shoulder strap is well padded and comfy and having the water bottle pouch on the outside is a great addition for easy access on the move. The adjustment for the shoulder strap is a bit annoying as it can be hard to get the pad over the bulky plastic adjustment piece (my only complaint).
