Description

Climb and hike comfort.

The Patagonia Men's GI III Pant is an ideal choice for summer backpacking excursions or a day of clipping bolts at the local crag. The durable nylon fabric protects your legs on overgrown sections of trail and dries quickly after brushing up against dew-soaked foliage or taking a celebratory dive into the swimming hole after a hard-earned redpoint. You won't feel like the GI is cramping your climbing style, either, since it has a gusseted crotch and elasticized waistband with an adjustable belt. The only person to blame for your hangdogging is you.

  • Nylon taslan fabric
  • DWR treatment
  • Quick-drying
  • Gusseted crotch
  • Elasticized waist with built-in belt

Great pants!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 55' 11"
    Weight: 218 lbs
    Size Purchased: Extra Large

These pants are exactly what I've been looking for! I've taken them on numerous day hikes, as well as a couple overnight trips into the San Juan mountains of CO, and they held up great. Backpacking with my 9month old son, traveling light weight is very important. These pants are so light weight, that I barely noticed them at all. I would definitely buy again if this pair wears out.

just what the doctor ordered

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 6' 0"
    Weight: 170 lbs
    Size Purchased: Medium

Bought these for field work/hiking in montana. extremely lightweight and breathable, but also durable (NO IDEA HOW!) I wore them all summer. on the hottest days when the 'squitos were swarming, I watched my friends flee my favorite fishing hole. being comfortable in long pants, I was able to stand there and catch all the fish. Can't wait to put another season into these bad boys.

Why does backcountry not carry tall in patagonia pants? It has been years. Catch up!

Hi TheNomad,

More Long lengths are on the way in Patagonia pants where it is offered - we currently have some in stock in the Patagonia Quandary Pant with long lengths en route for other styles.

My hiking pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These pants are very comfortable! The built in friction belt is ok, but I have never worn a friction belt that did not come loose over time. I have been up a few 14er's now in cool windy weather and with just one light base layer warmth has not been a problem. They seem to hold up well against rock abrasion. Time will be the true test. I would recommend them for a good summer/fall hiking pant.

I'm a 32W X 30L What is the best available size option? I don't want to order pants that are too long.

Hey Thomas,

The inseams are a 32 inch inseam across the board for all sizes so based on your waist the size Mediums will fit you the best.

Favorite pants

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 6' 3"
    Weight: 240 lbs
    Size Purchased: XL Long

These pants fit incredibly comfortable. Ideal for 45+ degrees Fahrenheit. Dry super fast, really rugged despite how thin they are. It kinda feels like I'm naked and I'm really digging it.

My only gripe is Patagonia doesn't carry 34" inseam so I have to buy them directly from Patagonia.

Update Feb 2015: Pants got a rip in the crotch with just playing with my son. I question the quality now.
