All outdoor sports become far more difficult when your pants fall down. Even if you're in town, it can cause a seriously embarrassing scene. Holster Ready

Small buckle, thin strap, non impressive material but....

-Patagonia
-low profile buckle works in many situations
-teton pattern is great
-my son uses it as his holster belt.

Its a keeper for the above reasons.

Large size does not afford much spare change around a 36 inch waist.

Silhouette of the Fitz Roy

Does it get any cooler than that?

such a rad looking belt

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The buckle/clasp thing hold the belt well, with no slippage. (Disclaimer - Ive only cruised it around town. I dont use it for hiking)

I got the one with the Patagonia mountain logo scene on it. Looks rad AF. Strangely enough, enough people notice it that Ive gotten quite a few people comment on it and compliment it.

I like this belt

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Holds better then most belts with this type of clasp/fastener. Still need to adjust it once in a while when I am really active (I have no hips). I like that it is not too wide or narrow, and fits on all of my pants and shorts well.

best belt ever?!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This belt may be the ultimate in pant adjustment systems! I bought it impulsively and began to regret it because I was expecting something a little more durable, but before too long I realized there is nothing more durable than this belt! After wearing it day in and day out for 2200 miles on the AT, I wear it nearly everyday at work (trail maintenance) and every night (bar hopping). I am frequently complimented on its colors and simplicity, again, don't be fooled this thing is indestructible! I would recommend these belts to anyone who has ever worn pants or shorts.. on a five star rating system I give it ten stars.

I use it more often than my other belts

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

I have the whalesong/Channel Blue version of this belt. It's stylist, light, and just an awesome belt. I'm a 31 waist, and the belt is a bit long, so I had alterations done.

Rarely take it off

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I've used this belt every day since I bought it. It's easy to put on, does it's job and doesn't require readjusting all day long. Easy to cut to length and looks great for anyone who likes Patagonia. Wouldn't mind if it was slightly wider.

Responded on

I agree. However, I've started using it on my ski pants and they don't have very wide belt loops so this belt works great and I don't worry about ruining it ever.

Perfect belt!

This belt is absolutely worth the price. Very simplistic without needing to adjust. I love it!

Everyday

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I wear this belt just about everyday. Does its job well. People compliment me on it too.

Responded on

I get that too. which is kinda weird, yet kinda flattering. "Thanks for looking at my, uh...belt?"

Good minimalistic belt

Holds better than expected (I rarely ever need to readjust it) and looks nice. I got this to use for hiking but I've started wearing it to work a lot as well. A nice change from a standard leather belt. As for durability, it seems to be holding up nicely (I wouldn't expect any less from Patagonia).

Great Belt, Good looking

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I love this style of belt, and the Patagonia design. But, some don't like to pay to advertise for a brand - only possible downside.

Great looking belt, but...

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Like mentioned in a prior review, to have the mountains oriented properly (for the Fitz Roy color) you need to wrap the belt around your waist counter clockwise, which isn't how I typically wear my belts. Anyhow, very awkward for me. I also have the Patagonia Tech Web Belt, and much prefer over Friction Belt - just easier for me to adjust.

Will the Patagonia friction belt fit my...

Will the Patagonia friction belt fit my fifty inch waist?

Best Answer Responded on

Tom, I believe that this belt is about 38" inches long... which means it will fit like a 36" waist max. Think you might be out of luck on this one unfortunately.

Hey guys! This belt is 44.5" long : )

Great built ideal for urban and country.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Beautiful belt, the buckle is lightweight and strong. I don't have and issue with this belt loosening. It is narrow enough to thread small belt loops. I have a 31 inch waist and I don't need to shorten the stock length. Thumbs up Patagonia!

Great minimal belt

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

If you're like me, you like a casual/outdoor belt that isn't too bulky and doesn't interfere much. Well this belt fits the bill perfectly. Pretty small size and really thin, but the single simple loop provides a lot of grip and I haven't had any issues with it slipping at all.
