Everyday

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I wear this belt just about everyday. Does its job well. People compliment me on it too.

Good minimalistic belt

Holds better than expected (I rarely ever need to readjust it) and looks nice. I got this to use for hiking but I've started wearing it to work a lot as well. A nice change from a standard leather belt. As for durability, it seems to be holding up nicely (I wouldn't expect any less from Patagonia).

Great Belt, Good looking

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I love this style of belt, and the Patagonia design. But, some don't like to pay to advertise for a brand - only possible downside.

Great looking belt, but...

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Like mentioned in a prior review, to have the mountains oriented properly (for the Fitz Roy color) you need to wrap the belt around your waist counter clockwise, which isn't how I typically wear my belts. Anyhow, very awkward for me. I also have the Patagonia Tech Web Belt, and much prefer over Friction Belt - just easier for me to adjust.

Will the Patagonia friction belt fit my fifty inch waist?

Best Answer Responded on

Tom, I believe that this belt is about 38" inches long... which means it will fit like a 36" waist max. Think you might be out of luck on this one unfortunately.

Responded on

Mine is 42" from end to end.

Responded on

Hey guys! This belt is 44.5" long : )

Great built ideal for urban and country.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Beautiful belt, the buckle is lightweight and strong. I don't have and issue with this belt loosening. It is narrow enough to thread small belt loops. I have a 31 inch waist and I don't need to shorten the stock length. Thumbs up Patagonia!

Great minimal belt

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

If you're like me, you like a casual/outdoor belt that isn't too bulky and doesn't interfere much. Well this belt fits the bill perfectly. Pretty small size and really thin, but the single simple loop provides a lot of grip and I haven't had any issues with it slipping at all.

i love this belt but....

this belt is awesome, great design and everything..but it loosens!! if you have anything in your pockets it makes for a sticky situation....constantly tightening it and it gets kind of annoying...

Awesome Belt

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Looks awesome and works well without any pinch points. On occasion it will loosen a little but I?ve yet to find a belt of this style that didn?t. Its of very good quality I expect it to last a long time.

love it

Love this belt. It stays snug and secure even while I'm being very active. This is my go to belt on my softshell pants.

Best belt I own.

Sorry, I hate to have a separate picture upload in addition to my review, but when I try to update my review with the picture it just kicks me back out without uploading the pic. Whatever.

My favorite belt, hands down.

Yes, it's a belt, and yes, it holds my pants up. But I love this belt. I had been alternating back and forth between the Patagonia Tech Web belt and your standard brown/black leather belt for a couple of years. On a whim, I decided to throw down the $25 for this one, mostly just because I wanted a fresh color option. However, it's become the only belt I use.

At first I was concerned at its minimal 1.25 inch width, thinking it would dig in (I'm an adventurous sort but I could stand to lose a couple pounds, I admit) or somehow be less effective than the wider Patagonia Tech Web belt. In fact, it digs in considerably less! I didn't realize how uncomfortable I had been until I got my new belt in the mail and wore it for a few days. In addition to the increase in comfort, I find it considerably easier to put on because of how slender and lightweight it is. It just glides through my belt loops. The buckle, though just a simple, small chunk of anodized steel, works flawlessly. I almost never have to make any adjustments throughout my day. I've got about a 36 waist and it's just the right length. It might be fine for a 38. From the tip of the belt to the tip of the buckle it's 45 inches long.

This may seem like an absurdly long review for a simple belt, and it is, but that's just a sign of how much I like it. In fact, I think I'll buy another one in a different color right now!

Doesn't disappoint!

This is my second Patagucci friction belt. I lost my first one and was heart broken. It's a piece of webbing and aluminum, it gets the job done.

Works great.

Doesn't loosen as the day goes on, can't ask for much else.

A little small

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Should be labeled "One Size Fits Most" as this thing is a little small. I'm a fairly normal sized guy (6'2, 220) and found this to be a little small...could be a bit longer. If you are above a 36-38 waist, don't buy.

Get it

Great belt that is infinitely adjustable given the friction-based nature of the system. Belt is relatively narrow such that it fits through my hiking pants belt loop as well as jeans without looking inappropriately skinny. The Fitz Roy logo color is amazing
