Great hiking and work shoe

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I bought these a four years ago for hiking, which they are great for, and have also used them at my job working in a warehouse with cement floors. I've worn them almost everyday for a few years and they have stood up very well to all the harsh conditions I've put them through. They are starting to fall apart in the heel now and plan to contact Patagonia about fixing them because they are one of my favorite shoes.

Are these shoes waterproof? Thanks!

Are these shoes waterproof?

Hey Eugen,

Thanks for the question. The Patagonia Footwear Scree Shield Hiking Shoe - Men's has a suede leather outer which will do okay with a small amount of water as the rubber lining between the suede leather and the sole will take care of a bit of water. But, it is not waterproof as wearing them in a deluge or submerging the shoe beyond the rubber outer will soak them through in not much time. I would look to a GTX version (meaning made with a Gore Tex insert) of a hiking shoe or boot if the climate you are looking to bike or backpack in provides more than a bit of precipitation.
