Thanks to tanned leather uppers and soft Polartec linings, the Patagonia Men's Ranger Smith Shoes give you a casual look and an incredibly comfortable feel for everyday wear. Patagonia also included footbeds made from a combination of recycled foam and cork for solid support with excellent cushion. The Ranger Smith Shoes use Vibram Ecostep soles to give you the traction and durability needed to take these shoes on afternoon hikes when the urge strikes at the end of a workday.

I compare these shoes to a Chrysler because they look and feel really good but after using them a couple of times actually hiking the stiching and rubber glue wore very prematurly. This is the first item I've ever had to return to BC and as I expected they are excellant to work with even months after the sale. This is extremely important in internet transactions. Thanks BC

This is a fantastic pair of boots. Patagonia did a great job with the design... very functional on the trail, and incredibly stylish. As far as I can tell, they are fully waterproof; however, most backpackers will tell you it's always a good idea to add an additional layer of waterproofing to your footwear. I love the chunky Vibram sole - it's got a heck of a lot of grip. Break-in time was only 2-days, and the boots are highly comfortable. The Polartec fleece keeps your feet warm, as advertised. My only gripe is about the lacing system. The lace holes are thin nylon loops that are sewn in to the Polartec fleece. It won't be long before the laces wear through the nylon loops, or the loops are pulled out of the fleece. My fix: when the lacing system fails I will use a small leather punch to create regular lacing holes. I have no doubt these boots will last for years!

We are pretty size true- If you normally wear a 9.5, then start there. Backcountry has a great return policy.

These shoes are sweet! Very comfortable to hike in with excellent Vibram sole grip. Lightweight and durable, with waterproofing that exceeded my expectations. The Ranger Smith fits right in with jeans for that after ski beerfest at the pub. Another excellent product from Patagonia that I received super quick!

I love these shoes. The support underfoot is amazing. My foot doesn't slip about on the trail and they aren't too heavy or too bulky for everyday use. The leather broke in nicely after a week of wear. I just hope they are still making them in a few years when this pair wears out.

They are pretty much the same. Just order what size you normally wear. If you happens to be too big or small, just send them back and backcountry will send you the size you need. They have great customer service.
