Because the path you choose is as unpredictable as the next trip.

The most-traveled, least-traveled, and never-traveled trails of the world all share one commonality; they're unpredictable. That's why the avid hiker, traveler, or local brew-grabber can appreciate the Patagonia Men's Javelina A/C Shoe's blend of features that resemble a hiking, athletic, and casual shoe all in one.

  • Mostly recycled PU footboard offers stability and prevents bruising underfoot
  • Oiled suede leather and synthetic mesh upper offers a functional blend of durability, ruggedness, and breathability for mixed use
  • Injection-molded nylon arch shank helps provide stability on uneven surfaces
  • Rugged Vibram sole is attached via a stitched style that provides long-lasting durability and is less reliant on toxic glues/solvents

Great everyday comfort

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Had these for over 7 months, I wear them on average 3-4 days a week and I love them. Comfortable roomy but not too roomy(fit like a skate shoe) and wide enough for my Barney Rubble feet. No signs of falling apart at all. About to buy another pair.

Fungus Beware

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Whether you're on an urban foraging mission through the dank undergrowth of your local green space, or tromping through the subway on your way to enjoying some craft brews at the local drink, the Patagonia Javelina gets it done by delivering the performance of a backcountry vet, with the comfort and laid back vibe of the modern day city frontiersman.

Solid every day shoe!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Bought these to wear everywhere... The house, the office, or out with family and friends. These are the perfect everywhere shoe. Can handle the elements (not waterproof), but breathable, comfortable, and fits true to size. I'm going to buy the other color now!

A good lightweight, 3-season shoe.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Very pleased with the Patagonia Javelina after a full summer and early fall of use. For the money and the lightweight construction the shoe is durable, comfortable and also very well ventilated which is great for warmer weather. Huge fan of Patagonia products all around, knowing that your money is going to a company that puts legitimate time and effort into considering it's environmental footprint (pun intended!). Anyway, back to the shoe...be clear this is not a good cold-weather option because it's meant to be very breatheable with lots of meshing around the top of the foot. Otherwise it should get you around town and off the beaten path where you need to go!

These shoes run incredibly small!!

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I order these in a 10 (my normal size) ... they were too small. Returned them for a 10.5 and they were even smaller than the 10's. I will be trying an 11 (a size I have never worn in any shoe) but I am disappointed with this shoe and I haven't even worn the shoes yet!!

These shoes run incredibly true to size. In fact, if I had to pick whether they run large or small I would say large but ever so slightly. If you wear a 10, buy a 10 and they will be $$

Decent Shoes

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Right out of the box, the shoes feel great. I have a wide, flat foot, and these fit & feel great. Sadly after about a month of wearing them, they are already starting to fall apart (stitches coming out everywhere, worn heals etc...). I love the look and feel of these shoes, but they will not hold up for very long.

Sounds like a manufacturing defect. You might send them back to Patagonia and see if they're covered by their "Ironclad guarantee": http://www.patagonia.com/us/patagonia.go?assetid=38565

Cool shoe...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Comfortable and used for multiple purposes, I used this shoe for approach, city use, slack-lining, and you name it. Overall good shoe though not as durable as others, hence the rating.

Thank you!

All-around solid shoe

Great combination of light-weight, durability and comfort. I think the Forge Grey looks pretty nice as well. This shoe gets a lot of work and so far has only gotten more comfortable. There is plenty of bulk and tread for wearing on a hike but they still look good wearing w/ a pair of jeans casually. Size 11 fit me as expected.

Not for a wider foot

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Put these on and noticed a few hours after wearing them it was like wearing a ski boot. I am a 27.0 so I bought my street shoes in the 9.5 for a little bit of wiggle room like all my other shoes. After a day of wearing them my toes became cramped side to side. Like another user said, they vent very well and we're very stylish. Just wish it came slightly wider.

Good looking shoes, comfortable

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm a big fan of these shoes as they are super comfortable, and look cool. The shoes vent pretty well (relative to say the Patagonia Boaris). My only complaint is that the back of the shoe - the heel cup - is wearing thin (2nd pair of Patagonia shoes that has done this). I wear these alot, which doesn't help. Overall, I like the shoe, but wish it was more durable in the back.

The essential mountain-bum shoe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got these because I wanted a street shoe that wouldn't make my feet hurt on those short spontaneous hikes. The most suprising thing when I took them out of the box was how comfortable they felt. They feel like a soft well broken in shoe the instant you put them on. On top of that they have held up rather well (though I don't suspect the softish sole will last more than 3 years). The cushioning and tread of the sole is great on rocky steep terrain. These are trail sneakers, so don't expect a substitute for light trekking boot- after 8-10 mountain miles you will notice you are wearing sneakers, not boots. Being soft they will not provide the support needed if carrying a large pack distances. Size wise, they seem to be cut rather wide, which make them comfy around town shoes, so if you have narrow feet these will not give you the support. If you are the type of mountain bum that keeps boots in the back of your car just in case then these are the perfect shoes for you. Worth the Patagucci price tag.

Is the sole of this shoe really flexible...

Is the sole of this shoe really flexible (like a skate shoe) or stiff (like a hiking/approach shoe)?

Great Shoes, True to Size, Vent Well

These shoes are great, very satisfied. They run true to size and keep your feet cool, as they vent extremely well.
