Great boots

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 4' 11"
    Weight: 120 lbs
    Size Purchased: 7

I recently bought these shoes since I saw all the great reviews on them. They are very well made and comfortable. I do recommend using them for hiking, I have been wearing them at work, and they are NOT at all slip resistant on a wet floor! Either way, I have been wearing them on my short hikes on my day off and they are very comfortable. One thing that makes them different from my Merrell's is that they're easy to get on and off without tying/untying the laces.

Great Hiking Shoe

I got these shoes about a month ago and I have hiked about 20 miles on different terrain in WA. They are very comfortable and handle rocks and steep hills very well. I am very pleased with these shoes!!

Comfortable on rocks

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Wore these for the first time while scrambling over boulders all day. Loved the grip they gave me on the rock -- it really boosted my confidence going up or down. Plus they were comfortable from the beginning (didn't have to break them in). I did notice the "heel slippage" that another user mentioned, but it wasn't a problem for me. Would highly recommend them!

great shoe

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

This is a great shoe. It is well made. I like the vibram sole and rubber around the toe. It was also comfortable. However, I am torn between a trail runner and hiking shoe so I returned them. I am also caught between sizes. There was slippage in the heel that wouldn't be corrected with a smaller size. I have narrow heels. I would recommend these as a hiking shoe.

Responded on

I have the same trouble with narrow heels, and I worry that any shoe that slips will cause blisters. Have you found a shoe that works for your narrow heels? Hoping to bag some peaks in the Sierras this fall, and trail runners aren't cutting it anymore.

LOVE THESE!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

My first pair of Patagonia hiking shoes and I love them! So comfortable and plenty of support. I've worn all spring and summer doing hiking from Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park to the Wasatch Range. Never had a blister. Great for all terrains.

A second pair

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I hike perhaps twice a week up to mountain passes in the Cascades and backpack once or twice a summer on less strenuous grades. I'm buying a second pair of the Patagonia Drifter AC hiking shoes before the are discontinued ... like all good products... They give me solid support on the sides, no torque, and a solid and rigid sole so my feet do not get tired. I have found no other hiking shoe that I also use backpacking that works this well. They are the best!

Perfect!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I live in the mountains of Wyoming at 9200 feet where the hiking is incredible and quite varied. These shoes are great. Perfect fit, true to size, lightweight, great traction! I got them in the Cardamom/Poppy and I love the color. I hike through lots of mud and creeks and dirt just blends right in. I've never had a Patagonia shoe before and would highly recommend it. Great quality and all around a great purchase!

WOW

I have been shopping around for a hiking/trail shoe for a while now. I backpack/hike/trail run all the time so I really wanted to make sure I got a good shoe. I was going to stick with Vasque or Merrill since I have used them before, but decided to look around a bit. After reading a bunch of reviews I decided to go with this shoe and all I can say is, "Wow!" My feet are so happy in these shoes. I wear a size 7 and they are true to size. They feel like a glove for my foot with lots of cushion and arch support. They feel solid, but not too much. I don't have wide feet, but often hiking shoes/boots squish my toes and these do not. They also have a curve at the toe that naturally moves with you feet and propels you forward. I am so impressed and am so glad that I took a chance with these shoes. I can't wait to wear them out pounding some ground.

Great Shoes

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these for my wife for her birthday. We have taken them up to Zion NP a whole bunch and she absolutely loves them. If you don't have vibram shoes they are definitely worth it.

I got her the sage khaki / prairie mist color, although you can tell they are hiking shoes, they are something she can wear around after a hike as well.

No Blisters!

I swore by my Limmer Boots but was convinced by my husband and numerous thru hikers I met it was time for a change. They were right! This was the first hike in the White's where I didn't walk out 3 days later with a blister. Patagonia - great job. Fits true to size - but a little awkward at first. You have to get used to your heel sliding out a bit and the arch it a touch high. After a couple of steps on the trail you'll feel like you are walking on the clouds with these light and durable shoes.

little small

Ordered a 1/2 size up based on suggestions in reviews and I am glad I did. I love them.

Best hiking shoe ever!

Durable, combortable and nice looking. I like them so much I managed to find 3 pairs just in case. Good job Patagonia.

Happy Feet Now

Yep - no problem with rocky terrains now... walked out of my cross trainers in 2 months. These shoes were a little stiff for about 30 minutes of wear out of the box. Absolutely wonderful after that. True to size. Love the color - sage khaki/prairie mist. Comfortable, stylish - no reason to not look good when out walking about. The terrain I am referring to is dusty, rocky and uneven. And I walk in it everyday. These shoes are wonderful. Try them with no hesitation. I am glad I did!

I'm planning a few 10-20 mile hikes this...

I'm planning a few 10-20 mile hikes this year. Mostly day hikes, so not extra weight. I'm 140 lb, 5'8". The terrain will be everything, including rough rocks, I can't decide between the "normal" Patagonia Drifter A/c or the Patagonia Drifter A/C Mid. Any suggestions?

Responded on

What did you end up going with? I usually prefer a mid on longer hikes, but that's just me.

Seems good, so far

The shoes are great looking, sturdy feeling; there's a bit of heft in them (not overly heavy). They are comfortable, although I haven't taken them out on a serious hike yet, so I can't discuss performance under stress/heat yet. (still winter and using winter hiking boots).
That being said, they are a bit "high volume" (seem a bit roomy all around) -- I have to crank down the laces and the edges are close to touching. May need to get a smaller size, that I see on patagonia store but backcountry.com doesn't seem to offer. . .

Love 'em!

Love the rugged Vibram sole, like that they are not super girlie colors, comfy and solid-feeling, not flimsy inside and they just look good. My feet stick to the trail like glue with each step. What else can I say? Buy 'em!

Good day hikers

Got these for 2-8 mile day hikes and have been happy with them. They were comfy right out of the box and the soles are great for varied terrain. The toe box seems on the generous side, but it does not compromise fit for an average-width foot. I found them true to size.

too small

too small, just reordered in 1/2 size larger. Love the look and feel when I got them. Hard to choose a rating....will update.
