Description

A waterproof summer hiking shoe for day hikes and short overnighters with a lightweight pack.

The sweltering city chokes you with car-exhaust mirages and traffic jams, but you know how to escape. You lace up the waterproof and extra breathable Patagonia Women's Drifter A/C GTX Hiking Shoe and spend all day in the fresh mountain air. This low-top hiker's air mesh paneled upper lets your feet breathe as you ascend the spruce-smelling ridge while a Gore-Tex membrane encourages moisture expulsion and provides a barrier against invading water when a thunderstorm appears out of thin air.

  • A Vibram Trail Ecostep rubber outsole adds confidence to your rocky steps
  • The EVA footbed cushions your steps with the help of the Air Cushion Plus midsole for absorbing long days of rocky and rooty trails
  • Bi-Fit polyurethane insole board (80% recycled) keeps the shoe rigid so they don't buckle and injure your ankle
  • Tongue gussets prevent pebble and twig hitchhikers along the trail
  • A medium width and medium arch support fit most female feet

Very supportive and comfortable

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I have owned several pairs of Patagonia light hiking shoes, and they have all been terrific. I needed a stiffer sole with more support and this shoe does the job.. Very comfortable, stiff sole and ducky-like rubber between the upper and sole keep feet dry when hopping over rocks or crossing shallow streams. All of my Patagonia shoes have run 1/2 size small. I normally wear a 6 shoe and I always order 6.5 in this brand.

Runs small

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

Bought these based on great reviews, but they were just barely too small. I wore them around the house a bit and debated whether I should return them or not. For the price, I decided they needed to be 100% what I was looking for so I returned them. If I were to re-purchase I would get a half size up.

Great shoes

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

I ordered a 9 which I usually wear and was deliberating sending them back as they seemed tight at first with socks on. Finally decided to give them a try and they are now one of my very favorites. Would definitely recommend, they are very comfortable and easy on/off

Great purchase-Patagonia Drifter A/C GTX

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I decided to take a chance on these light hikers based on the positive reviews I read, and I am very happy I did. These shoes are super comfortable, provide great support, excellent traction and were overall worth the money. I was really looking for something to use as an alternative to my heavy Vasque boots, and these boots have full-filled every expectation. I have pretty high arches, and the support in these Drifter A/C GTXs. Regarding size, I wear a size 9 in most sneakers, and ordered a size 9 for the Drifter and they fit perfectly. I highly recommend these boots.

I would really like to order these, but wonder if you will get more in stock of the grey, black, pink and blue A/C GTX's?? What color scheme is this? Thanks!

Unfortunately we won't have that colorway again as it was a style from 2011 called Feather Grey.

I ordered a pair of Drifter A/C GTX women's hiking shoes. I wear a size 8 and that is the size I ordered. After reading about them, I am concerned they will be too small. You didn't have them in a 9 and with hiking socks I think they will be too tight. Any thoughts ?

Hey there, thanks for your question. It's possible that your size 8.0 will be too small especially with hiking socks. I had to size up about a half size in these drifters due to my hiking socks. Currently we don't have a size 9.0 in inventory, have you tried the size 8.0 on yet? Once you know if you need to do a return/exchange, just call the Gearheads at 800.409.4502 and we will be happy to help. My direct ext is 4315.

Drifter GTX = 1, muddy forest = 0

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Another great shoe from Patagonia! The Drifters are very sturdy with excellent grip/traction, and quite waterproof! I'd describe the arch support as moderate, which is enough for me but I could see supplementing if you are looking for extra support. Be aware that the Drifters are a little heavier than some of the other light hikers out there, but they also seem much sturdier. The Vibram sole and rubber reinforcing around the toe and heel should suit shoe-destroyers like myself. For their inaugural expedition, I bushwhacked through a muddy forest on a soggy day, and my feet stayed toasty warm and dry. Well, my feet were dry until I waded knee-deep across a stream and my shoes filled with water, but I think we can chalk that up to user error...

Drifter GTX = 1, muddy forest = 0

my wife has wide feet with high arch and instep and needs a wide toe box and room for her high instep. How would these fit?
