You can picket industrial companies to save the swells, push beached whales back into the sea, and beat a seal poacher over the head with his own club, but without the Advocate Shoe you're just another resource-sucker. The sole is super-thin and the synthetic upper features elastic stretch bands instead of laces, which makes this the ultimate minimalist slip-on shoe for the guy looking to reduce his impact on natural resource supplies and limit man-made by-products. In fact, the Advocate is a shoe with so little material that it makes an ideal travel or post-surf-session foot cover.

I have come so close to buying these so many times, but I haven't found many reviews on them. Can anybody tell me how they hold up?

I have owned a lot of Patagonia gear over the years and all of it has held up will. I don't have any experience with these shoes, but Patagonia has a well earned reputation of building quality products that last. I wouldn't let durability be a concern. If for some reason they don't last as long as you expect, both Patagonia and Backcountry have outstanding customer service policies and will repair/replace/refund them without question.
And then, write us a review after you've worn them a bit :)
