Super comfy but small

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I tried this flannel on today and I want it in every color. It is sooo warm and comfortable! I typically wear a size 2/4 but actually opted for an 8 in this. Sizes 2-8 all fit me, but the 2 was a little snug in the bra area (34C). The 8 was pretty relaxed without looking like I was swimming in it. All the smaller sizes also fit just fine, but were just more fitted and I prefer my flannels a bit more loose. I'm 5'2 and the size 8 came to about an inch or two above the hem of my jorts. I swam in the size 10 though. Size just depends on how you want this shirt to fit.

Have any of you ladies tried on Patagonia's men's Fjord flannels and know how they look compared to the women's flannels? I'm contemplating getting the XS in a men's flannel since it's comparable to the women's size S (4-6). I like a boxy fit in my flannels rather than a fitted flannel.

Hi Jenn,
Might be worth a shot for sure. It will definitely give you the fit you're looking for, sizing might be interesting though since I feel like the relaxed fit in the men's Fjord runs a touch big.

I got this for my girlfriend for Valentine's Day; now she doesn't want to wear anything else. This shirt is super soft, cozy, and the Radiant Magenta color is vibrant. The size six fits her 36" chest, 26" waist, and broader shoulders just right: not too loose, not too tight.

Love it!

Great heavy flannel shirt for fall and winter. Nice feminine fit without losing the classic details or being too slim. Super warm, and comfortable. Fits true to size, with nice long sleeves. I'm typically between sizes for tops. Sized down for this and fits perfectly. Love the unique gaucho stripe color and Patagonia's craftsmanship. Highly recommended.

Not bad, effective and comfortable

I started my Patagonia relationship with this flannel and I'm glad I did. The cotton is warm enough I can wear it on a cool day without the need of another jacket but it also keeps me warm and toasty when I'm hiking at the end of the Autumn Season. It fits well and I have no complaints.

Not super impressed with this $89 flannel. It is just a regular flannel made of organic cotton. I usually wear a size 2 and maybe a 4 (I'm 5'7 and ~120 lbs). I bought a size 4 and it did not cover my wrists at all- I had to return it for a size 6. It has a "woman specific" shape and is fitted in the waist for some odd reason. I am not a particularly curvy girl so it just seems very strange to me to have such a girly fit to a flannel. Why gender specific? Who knows. I usually wear dude's flannels and do just fine without the fitted waist. Overall, weird. Not worth $89. Not sure why organic cotton or fitted waist. Great colors for the chrystaline one, though.

This shirt is made of quality heavy flannel which guarantees to keep you warm. I am 5’7 and 120 lb, size 4 fits me well. There is enough room underneath for base layer on extremely cold days and the shirt hides under a coat without creating bulk. It looks good worn on its own or combined with a west.
I really like the cut, flattering and well designed. The shirt falls few inches past my hip bones and stays there. I can make wide range of arm moves without the shirt riding out. Same goes for the sleeves which don’t restrict movement and are covering my arm just to about my wrist. Perfect length.
This shirt is so cozy you won’t want to take it off.

Thick, warm flannel.

If you're looking for a high-quality, thick flannel shirt - this is perfect. I like this shirt a lot. I usually don't button it up. Instead, I just wear a basic tee under it and leave it open. Looks great.

As the title of the review below mine iterated "BFF - My Best Flannel Friend"
Couldn't have said it better myself. I bought the Fjord flannel last year and it's SO GOOD. Ugh. It's like good food, but even better. You can wrap yourself up in it, you can wear it to bed, etc AND it's socially acceptable to wear it 2 days in a row. Generally. Anyway...

I bought this flannel in a size 0 - I'm 5'2" / 5'3" - it fits AWESOME. It has a longer fit, and the bottom is a bit more loose than the rest of the flannel. It gives me the illusion of having hips, despite having none. Additionally, the arm length is perfect. It's not too long, or super short. I can layer another long sleeve shirt underneath it if need be, and also can easily be layered underneath other sweaters.
I like that it flatters my figure, rather than hide it. I find with a lot of women's flannels, they trumpet out at the bottom and don't fit me in the shoulders. This one is probably the only flannel that fits me well. Not to mention, Patagonia has THE best color options in their flannel. Hands down best flannel ever. Even washes well!

Love love love this shirt. I bought one a few months ago, then bought a second so we would never be apart. Then I turned my sister onto it who bought one, was converted and got a a second.
This is the softest, comfiest shirt ever. I go from sleeping in it to wearing it all day after. The colours are so bright, it washes like a dream and i even put it in the drier it is so low maintenance.
If I didnt work in a corporate environment nothing would stop me wearing it every day.

So in love that we slept together

I walked into a Patagonia store yesterday. So dangerous, but I thought I'd risk it. Came out with the new fjord flannel in gaucho stripe. It's seriously the best thing ever. It's 100% cotton, the softest thing I've put on in ages and so snuggly and warm I wore it out of the store. And then to dinner. And then to bed. And am wearing it writing this. The only size they had in stock was an 8. It's quite big for me, but I wanted to be able to layer it and wrap up in it, so I would have got this size even with more choices. I'll probably get another that fits more snug and I'll probably end up with something a few sizes smaller. (5'3 120lbs).
This thing will go absolutely everywhere with me. Camping, hiking, climbing, fishing, canoeing, even my upcoming RTW travels. I highly highly recommend this one ladies. Just the best.

purchased 1 two years ago at the recreation equipment incorporated retailer on sale. after my first day with this thick luscious flannel softly warming my skin all day, instead of heading home, i returned to purchase a second. since then, these have been weekly staples and gave new meaning to the invented "flannel shirt Friday" or Monday, or Wednesday. note that unlike other flannels, the stitching all stays the same direction, like a normal shirt, as opposed to having the collar, placket, and/or pocket a stitched a different angle - which looks awful. btw, i am 5'7" with an athletic build and seasonal belly....size 6 fit me perfect without layers, little snug with a henley. these are high quality lifetime investment flannels which wash very well and keep getting softer with each wearing. there has been absolutely zero color fade. i get compliments every time i wear them. have the early model green/purple (looks better than it sounds) and electric blue/teal that matches a few other Patagonia pieces i picked up (los lobos vest & Capilene 4 Expedition hoody). not crazy about the current color/pattern selection, but i doubt if i can justify a 3rd Fjord.

This is a super soft cozy flannel! It is a warm and super comfortable, I don't even want to take it off at bedtime. I definitely recommend it for a cold winter day or cool fall day. I usually wear a medium but I sized up to a large just to have extra room and it fits perfect.

Patagonia designers know how to make an outdoor lady feel great. I can dress this up or down; wear it wrangling at camp or while shopping in the city.

Super soft, super comfy! The fit is great for a lady, not to boxy like mens shirts, but still roomy enough to wear a shirt underneath. I wear it all the time.
