I usually wear this flannel on quite chilly days, I wouldn't recommend this bad boy if the temp is going to get near 45-50F, especially if the sun is out or if you are doing any kind of hiking or backpacking because this thing will have you on the brink of sweating all day. Other than that definitely my favorite winter shirt by far, so long as the temperature cooperates.

Anohter outstanding Patagonia product. It's soft, comfortable, war, all you could ask for. I use this on cool nights camping especially here in Minnesota where even in the middle of summer it can drop to be pretty cold at night. Like someone said earlier though the newer ones are cut a bit slimmer than they used to be so just be aware when ordering that your old size might not work anymore.

I've worn two of these shirts for years; they are my favorite winter shirts and still look like new after a gazillion washings. I ordered a new one this year and it was too tight! I laid it over an old one and there was a full inch less fabric on each side. I wound up giving it to a skinny friend.

I was supposed to get this shirt for Christmas, but my wife decided to give it to me for Thanksgiving weekend at our family cabin. Ever since then I have a hard time not wearing it.
The shirt is cozy no matter what type of Fall / Winter you experience. Like any Patagonia clothing it is built with quality in mind and it feels like it will last a long time.
Here is to a long relationship with one of the best flannels I have ever owned.

comfortable, durable, functional, great length and no obnoxious branding. at 6'5" and 220# the fit of an xl is just about perfect. my only complaint is the sleeves could be a bit longer, but so goes the story with every other shirt out there when you're tall. i was looking for an alternative to an insulated flannel, also by patagonia, that is now about 8 years old and after a full month of use i'd expect this shirt to have a long life as well

For a while maybe 18 months ago you couldn't find this shirt anywhere. Hands down my favorite flannel on the market, worth the price tag. Summer nights at the campfire, or apres ski beers- year round you will live in it and love it. That's why you need more than one. I'm 6'5", 36-37" sleeve, 41 chest, and i wear a Large. The sleeves are long enough, or maybe I'm used to all sleeves being short. It works. The cut on the shirt is relaxed but not bulky. I bought a Woolrich flannel when I couldn't find this Fjord flannel anywhere, it had so much extra body I didn't even return it, just gave it to the Salvation Army. So many styles to choose from, you don't need to look like you were chopping wood all afternoon unless you want to.

As expected with anything from patagonia, the quality of the flannel is top notch. Its very warm and soft, but doesnt feel to bulky. Its also just an overall great looking shirt. I dont think you can go wrong but I went with the spanish moss and am very happy.

What a soft, warm flannel -- perfect for crisp fall days. I'll buy another if ever on sale.
Although it's a substantial shirt, it might be a bit of an exaggeration to call it "heavyweight." My small weighs less than 14.5oz, and, for example, the Alaskan Guide flannel by Filson is much beefier. Nevertheless it's 60F in my house right now and I'm cozy sitting with the Fjord over a t-shirt. With that outfit I'm also comfortable walking around town at 50F.
The Zappos picture of the Deitrich: Classic Navy is more color-realistic than the pictures on the Backcountry or Patagonia websites.
I'm 6'0" and 155lbs and a small is a perfect fit for wearing un-tucked. The fit is still not trim, so if you're uncertain I recommend sizing down.
There are only two Patagonia labels on this shirt and the buttons are plain. The collar tag is easy to remove after clipping its stitching, and the side tag can be cut close.

This might be the best shirt ever. Super warm, super soft and comfortable, and feels like it's going to last forever. Pretty much live in it all winter.
(runs a little big, so if you're in between sizes, size down)

I live and breathe in this thing. It's a shirt, a jacket, a blanket, a pillow, a pot holder, you name it. I think this thing is the perfect weight to do anything in. With the multiple buttons on the cuffs its really easy to take on and off or roll up your sleeves. The fabric is extremely durable for near every use and has held up very well despite me cooking, climbing, cleaning, shoveling, skiing, and living a great life in this thing way too often. I'll likely replace it with the same when the time comes. I have a size small and it fits perfectly on my 5'10 155# athletic frame.

In nearly every other patagonia item I own I wear an XL comfortably (6'2-6'3 200lbs). This seems to be a tad bit baggy for me in a XL.

This may sound strange, but I feel that this shirt is a rare item. I have been looking for a thick, durable, well made flannel shirt for over a year, and I think I found it. It could be that my standards for flannel shirts are a little too high, but I believe that a garment that makes you look like you live in the woods should be able to do just that live in the woods, and survive. All other flannel shirts that I have tried in the past have either been too thin, poorly assembled, or just plain cheap. Thankfully, Patagonia did it right. Granted, it is expensive for a shirt, but look closer and you will notice that it is more than just a shirt.
Pros: Heavy/thick material and great choice of colors, buttons that dont fall off, relaxed fit but not too baggy, room for an undershirt (or two), very warm for a cotton shirt, timeless Stamper Family look.
Cons: Price is a little high. Also, if you are planning on tucking this into your pants (why would you?) you may have some trouble due to the thick material and short torso length. Just know that it was made to be worn out. If you want something thinner or not as warm, have a look at the buckshot.
Overall: The ideal flannel shirt. Who cares if you look like something out of a Ken Kesey Novel?
Fantastic Flannel

I tried this shirt on last year and found the arms to be too long and the overall fit just kind of loose. This year, it fits me perfectly. I'm 6', 165 lbs, and I went with a small. It's soft, plenty warm, and has a cool style. Highly recommend it, but try it on first to make sure you get the right fit

A large should fit you well.
I'm 175cm/80kg (5'9"/175lbs) and a medium fits me perfectly.
