Light, warm , comfy. Typical for Patagonia. Great for fall/spring or layering in real cold. Got it at the end of the cold season so looking forward to using it more later this year.

Does the Patagonia Down Sweater vest have the capability to be "zipped-into" an outer shell? Thanks.

No, not designed to be zipped into a shell. You could certainly wear it under a shell, but if you're sweating down might not be the best insulation choice.

As shown in the photo, I bought this item to use over the top of my shell when splitboard touring, in particular for when you reach the top of a snowy, windy ridge line and are getting ready for the descent and you want to add another layer, but don't want to take your shell off and expose yourself to the elements.
Anyway, this is a light and warm vest that does the job. It packs away nicely into its own pocket and takes up hardly any room in my pack. The outer material is tough enough that wearing it underneath your pack won't damage it.
warm and comfy

keeps you surprisingly warm for just being a vest. and looks great! I like it a lot. Im 6'2" ~175 and got L. Could have definitely gone down to a Medium though for a more fitting fit.

Most comfortable vest of all time. I have an athletic build and usually wear a large, but sized down to a medium for a more trim fit. Works great as a stand alone layer until temp gets below 30.

I wanted a coat that would be very warm, light, and stylish at a good quality. The Patagonia Down Sweater Vest has shown and proved thus far. I have only used the vest in the urban streets of NYC and my car (which it is perfect for). Everyone loves how the red pops. With any decent shell this coat will keep you weather proof. I thought about spraying waterproofing on it so I can wear it all the time. Great Layer, or stand alone.
Worth it!

Very comfortable vest! For the sales and deals ive see on it, its worth it! The 800 fill down is very warm. Keeps you toasty. The fit is snug, i almost found a XL too small (XL is the normal fit for me in all other brands). Lots of pockets, i love how it stuffs down into itself, makes it easy for stowing away in your pack, makes it available whenever needed. Very nice piece of gear. I normally dont like vests, but decided to give one a try, and im glad i did.

For most purposes bar hard-core alpine climbing, this is all you need. It's attractive and warm. The fit is not slim so it's not effective for wind-proofing but it is a great, versatile vest.
For going around town, this jacket looks great! I love the way this vest looks.

Excellent!
Fits right, its great on top of a long t or as base layer.
Keeps the core warm, oh yes and the 800 down makes it very packageable.
I just used it for a trip to Rochester, NY. Kept it on all the time!

Comfortable, lightweight, fitted. What more can you ask for from a piece of down clothing? I own the vest in pomegranate and the color really pops in person. I am 6'2" and 175# and I bought the medium and that still leaves room to layer a fleece underneath. Well thought out waist draw cord that hides the extra elastic cord when a more fitted look is desired. This vest is a great layer in cool and dry climates.

What is the difference between the Patagonia Nano Puff Vest and the Patagonia Down sweater Vest? I'm needing one or the other for a mid-layer to go skiing with my Patagonia Soft shell jacket? I would appreciate some feedback.

The Nano Puff Vest is insulated with a synthetic material called Primaloft. The Down Sweater is insulated with goose down. Both are very nice layering pieces for the purpose that you want to use them for. Down insulation typically has a longer life, provides more warmth for its weight and is more compressible. With down, though, you can't get it wet. On the other hand, Primaloft still retains most of its insulating properties even when damp. It is also usually a bit cheaper, still really compressible, and is hypoallergenic. Hope this helps.

a must have - light, did I mention it was light weight, it is great by itself with a long sleeve shirt or under a jacket for extra cold days- I counted four people at the coffee shop this morning wearing this vest or the jacket- very popular out here in Reno

Truly a beautiful and immensely functional vest. Got the Forge Gray, color matches with the picture online, medium fits me perfectly, I'm a size 38 suit jacket, 5'8" 165 lb., 32" waist. It hangs great, doesn't puff up or feel stiff in the least, is very light yet amazingly cozy.
Toasty!

This thing is awesome! you can wear it alone or use it as a layering piece, but damn is it warm! When l first got it, l was a little skeptical, but after a chilly mid-morning bouldering session, l was very happy to own this! and the color? awesome!

best piece of gear i have ever purchased. as soon as i start moving in it, it is too warm, so insulation is not a problem. if you are active in cold climates, this is the piece you need.

I just got mine in the mail yesterday and so far its standing up to the wonderful New England weather very well! It adds that extra bit of Ompfh to my base layers, and l'm sure that come winter time this will find its way up many a mountain with me! First of hopefully many patagonia products!
Lightweight, warm and looks good.

I bought this as more of a casual around town piece of clothing, living in Denver CO. Typical uses for me include going to a Rockies game, running errands in the morning, or hanging at my sons lacrosse practice in early evenings.
For these purposes i love this vest, it's so light you barely know it's on, so you have full range of flexibility, yet for as thin as it is, it's remarkably warm. I'm actually planning on using under my soft shell at Loveland in a few days, and i'm expecting it work wonders. Oh yeah, and did i mention it looks good, I actually received a complement at a bar about it.
Fitting is spot on, i'm 6'5', 230 lbs and bought and XL and it fits perfect, not too light but not baggy.
My only negative is that i do find feathers popping through more than I thought I would.
Great price for nuclear thermal heat!!

Patagonia has hit it home with this little honor.... its ergonomic design fits really true to your shape and the 800 fill does the job like a champ. I got a med and it hugs me in all the proper places with plenty of space and range of motion. It's not too poofy as with some vests so if your looking for a light down vest that has nuclear warmth this is it!! look no farther and the built in stuff sack makes it great to pack when you get to shedding. Love it all around and will be buying more from patagonia in the future!!
