Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Special Edition - Women's - 2010 BCS
Available Colors / Styles
When the sun sets on your campsite, pull on the Patagonia Women’s Down Sweater Jacket and relish in all its warmth thanks to its 900-fill power European down insulation. This special edition, ultra-lightweight sweater easily compresses into the interior chest pocket, which is key when you have limited storage camping or backcountry skiing. If a light storm moves through, the jacket’s Deluge DWR coating makes the raindrops or flurries run for cover, and this beauty of a coat is ideal for layering underneath your shell if the storm gets really serious.
Bottom Line: It doesn’t get much better than this.

I wouldn't buy one with a hood because I want to put a technical shell over it and the hood gets in the way. I always have a hat and put up the hood on my tech jacket.

good point, hoods are definitely nice to have when it gets nasty out. One of the best features of the Down Sweater here without a hood though is how easily it layers under a shell for super cold temps. The Down Sweater is available hooded as well...

The problem with this jacket is not that it is boxy, rather, it doesn't have a hood. If you are going to pay this amount of money and want a serious backcountry down jacket with 850-900 fill it should come with a hood. Check out Western Mountaineering Flash or XR Flash jackets. Some women place a priority on style and want a fitted garment. I like boxy because I want the down jacket to be long and cover my body since it is the most important survival clothing gear when you are out in the backcountry, so I always size up to a large to get plenty of coverage!
