Stay warm in the backcountry in your windproof, wicking Patagonia Retro-X.

From high-altitude base camps to low-down valley floors, the Patagonia Women's Retro-X Jacket has logged time in some spectacularly rugged sites over the years. It has a breathable, windproof barrier sandwiched between cozy Synchilla polyester fleece on the outside and a moisture-wicking polyester brushed-mesh inner lining. Quilted Supplex nylon panels over the shoulders and collar stands provide warmth and durability, spandex binding at cuffs and hem block drafts, and Y-Joint sleeves and wider back panel create a more ergonomic fit. A fleece-lined collar and protective wind flap prevent the chill from sneaking in.

What is the center back length of a medium?

What Wind?!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This jacket is like solid steel.
I kid you not. I bought this jacket a few years back initially because I liked the way it looked, the windproof feature, and...because it was just a comfy looking fleece (just call me a fleece fanatic). I ended up really, really loving this fleece. The windproof feature of the jacket is on point. I feel literally nothing when I wear it. I wear this jacket anywhere between 4 - 5 times a week. It's perfect for when I'm conducting a demo in grocery stores - keeps the chilly fridge vibes out! And, its even more perfect for when I'm out and about walking the dog. It's cozy and I love wearing it in general.
The downside to this jacket is that it's short and I say that as a short person (5'2" or 5'3" on a good day... heh). The jacket hits about hip level - I don't feel comfortable wearing it while biking because my back end is hanging out (which was part of the initial appeal of it being windproof - wear while biking around town). The jacket in general runs small - I would encourage anyone who usually wears an XS in Patagonia to grab this jacket in a size Small, maybe even a size medium if you're a little busty.
Also, like most synthetics / windproof / not super breathable material - this jacket definitely holds the stink. Which, I don't mind. As long as I'm able to keep my friends around...
(Side note: the hoody version of this runs big - so size down in that one!)
This jacket gets 4 stars because of the fit, otherwise I have no complaints. Currently pining for the vest version of this.

Oh and the jacket doesn't pill! It holds up to wear and tear really well!!

Love this fleece

I have an older retro-x fleece and just got this seasons because I loved the colors so much. This fleece i super well made. It's warm, looks really cool and doesn't show wear after multiple seasons of use and lots of washing. Can't go wrong with this.

Does fit small. I sized up so I could layer under it.
