The versatile Patagonia Women's Capilene Midweight Bottom is a great way to stay warm whether you're skiing powder or ice skating at an outdoor rink. This durable and fast-wicking baselayer performs in a wide variety of temps and activities thanks to the smooth Polartec Power Grid fabric's brushed-grid backing that traps heat to maximize warmth without adding bulk and pulls sweat away from your skin to keep you dry. It's also breathable to keep you from overheating when you're touring or shredding in spring, and a Polygiene treatment fights odor so you don't stink up the car when you kick off your ski pants.

    Warm, easy to put on

It's warm base layer, nice quality, a bit loose fit to the body to save all the fuss to put on them

    So far I'm digging these.

These pants are warm and still give you freedom! They have a thicker waistband than my other base layers which makes them more comfortable for long days. The fabric is comfortable and has been keeping me really comfortable on the slopes. I bought the gray pair and wouldn't wear them to the grocery store but they are thick enough to wear at a ski lodge without giving too much of a show.

    A Very Versatile Layer.

Patagonia's Capilene just keeps getting better and better. Come winter, I live in my long johns - running, skiing, yoga, daily wear: you name it. I have an old-old pair of the midweight Capilene that finally had the radish, so I figured why deviate from what I know - I picked up a pair of these and I'm way impressed with the changes.

First of all, the fabric is totally different and features a super subtle micro-grid-esque pattern on the interior that wicks away moisture before I even notice it's a problem. Perhaps the nicest part about the fabric is that it's anything but sheer, even with the form-fitting design.

As for warmth, this baselayer is way cozy. I wore them skiing on a 6-degree day and while I was roasty-toasty-cozy when I was moving, I definitely felt a bit nippy on the chairlift.

Also, let me tell you about the waist band: it's unreal. I thought Patagonia had really hit the nail on the head when they started utilizing the wide waist band on their baselayers in 2014, but now they've really impressed me with this new edition. There's this reinforced elastic on the inside of the waistband that keeps the baselayer up high on your natural waist, which is awfully convenient if you've got a booty or a long torso.

Bottom Line: These are an awesome midweight baselayer for someone who's looking for Jane-of-all-trades kind of performance. Plus, the Harvest Moon blue is decidedly my new favorite color (also shout out to Neil Young's best song of all time).

    Heck. Yes.

These are it, all you ever needed in a long underwear bottom (slash legging).

These were recommended to me by a friend who worked at Patagonia and shoosh I am glad she did!

They are super light in weight, but not in warmth--they were an easy add to my kit for a backpacking trip last summer and kept me super warm through all the tundra had to offer.

They kept their shape nicely through 45 days with constant wear and no washes (Save that one bout in a river...).

I'm 5'6" about 140# and the medium was perfect

Love the fit and color but...

The quality is lacking compared to other products I have bought from Patagonia. The first time I used them I took them off and found a big hole caused by poor stitching. It's was easy for me to repair myself but for this price they should hold up for more than one 8 hour shift. Love that Patagonia thermals actually make their pants with long enough legs unlike others on the market.

So much warmth, with such little bulk!

These are Super soft fabric which does a great job of wicking moisture, yet doesn't get stanky and gross. The midweight keeps my friend warm on all but the coldest of days.

    Warm & loose fit!

I always get cold and usually ski in fleece lined leggings but these solved that problem for me. They're great because they're super warm but still wick away moisture so they translate well from hot to cold. Would just note that if you're looking for leggings, these aren't the right pants - it's a relaxed, looser fit.

I finally bought this base layer after my friends kept telling me how warm it kept them. I wear these bad boys everyday skiing! I love them. I have worn them under some shell ski pants on days when it's 15 degrees and they still keep me toasty. They also wick away any access sweat that accumulates on the warmer days so I stay nice and dry like I want! I also like the fit of the bottoms because they aren't like leggings they have a little give. If you are in doubt, get em!

These pants make those frozen chair lift rides a walk in the park. They have a slim fit so there are no issues with bunching under your snowpants. The fabric is really soft and doesn't wear down even after heavy use.

These are my first pair of Caps and they definitely won't be my last. One of the warmest, most comfortable base layers you'll find. I pair mine with softshell pants when backpacking and also use them as a lounge layer for hanging out in the tent at basecamp. They are definitely thick enough to wear as a standalone layer too (just beware of the feather grey color). I am 5'3, 135lbs and wear anywhere from a size 4 to a 6 depending on the brand. I purchased a size small in these and the fit was spot on.
