Small torso, wide sleeves

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Size Bought: XL

I love the design, as usual with Patagonia, but the torso and sleeves seemed too disproportionate since the arms were HUGE and I don't have small arms to begin with. Soo sad it didn't work.

Underwear that's fun to wear

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have been a long-time devotee of merino wool underwear. But after a friend raved about his Patagonia Capilene, I decided to give this a try. I'm one of those people who is cold all the time, so I'm always on the lookout for wearable layers. I was not disappointed with this top. The particular use I had in mind was tree planting. Each winter I spend weekends planting trees in conditions that range from 30 degrees to sunny and 60. I often need to layer up, but can't always stop to take the layers off. This top did well at keeping me warm but because it is vented neither did I overheat.

Since I was comparing to my wool, I decided to go all out and on a couple of occasions wear it a few days in a row, 24/7, just to see how it would hold up. I am pleased to report the top seemed to go about four days before I felt the need to change it out, stink-wise.

I wore it as everything from a baselayer to a casual top (cami recommended as it is a bit sheer) and it held up well, but more importantly it kept me warm.

I am 5'6", 130 pounds and almost always wear a SM in Patagonia. This top fit true to size, although if I was always going to wear it as a next to skin layer I might consider an XS but I'm not sure the sleeves would be long enough.

This is the best piece of clothing I own. It's a great layering piece in the winter and works well as a warm layer to carry in the summer. It's even nice enough looking to wear to a restaurant after a hike or climb. It's also warm even when wet. I like to carry it in my dry bag when I go on a river as a warm layer in case I get cold. Can't go wrong with this.

The fit is slim. If you are at all between sizes, size up. I got away with my normal size, but it is a little snug.

Love this top!

This top is my go-to for riding. It fares well on those really cold and wet days - keeps me dry and warm, even with just my three-layer shell. Where it really surprises me though are on those warm days when you would expect it to be too much! It breathes well, doesn't get too stinky and is super comfortable to boot. To top it off, I love the fit! Patagonia did a great job with contouring the top to actually hug a lady frame.

Love this top!
