Pull on the Patagonia Men's Capilene 4 Crew when you're going to be huffing and puffing in the cold. From dawn patrol ski tours to summit pushes, this long-sleeve top keeps you on your game with its Polartec Power Dry material. This fabric won't hold you back—it has plenty of stretch, and its jersey face slides easily under your shell. It also features a Gladiodor treatment to reduce the funk-factor. The Capilene 4 Crew's interior retains heat, wicks moisture, and is highly breathable, so you don't get the shivers when you stop to rest. Panel piecing assures a non-restrictive fit, while the flat-seam construction won't irritate when you wear a pack.
Bottom Line: When you need warmth and comfort for a mid-winter adventure, look to the Patagonia Capilene 4 Crew Top.
this is a great piece to add to your collection. in my own opinion i'd go for the half zip pullover cap 4 by patagonia. it keep your neck warmer and if you're hauling a sling it doesn't cut your neck up. i own almost every single layer patagonia has out right now and they are definitely the market leader in layers right now. all capilene they make have Gladiodor which keeps your layer from holding a stench after a wash. this has excellent wicking capabilities as well as every patagonia layer. this one is thicker than most others and is the warmest of the capilene layers. performs very well in the cold.
I got this shirt at the end of December and wore it duck hunting for a week strait before I got a chance to wash.
I have since worn it as a second layer skinning in the back country or resort skiing. It is also great to wear around the house on cold nights or in the wood shop, or under my coat while shoveling the driveway. It is too warm for inside if you have the wood stove cranking.
The construction is true to Patagonia style, burly and built to be used.

While it would seem to be too heavy weight, I use it for everything. Im pretty slim so I dont sweat much, but its just amazing. I've used it summit Baker with little more than windstopper jacket on top and have also used it hiking in 90 degree heat. Doesn't smell after many days.
In a way the previous review is right! Almost everything Patagonia makes today is made out of what might otherwise be garbage. Luckily they have the foresight and innovative minds to create great clothing out of soda bottles, worn out capilene and polartec and scraps from the manufacturing process. I love my cap 4 crew. Buy one! They rule! It's stretchy, warm and pretty durable. But, I guess if you go by the standard that everything that has a snagged wrist seam is garbage, then I guess I love my piece of junk.
Great insulator for skiing, hiking, climbing, running. I wish the neck was a bit smaller, but with a wicking tee underneath I am fine. The large fits me best; I'm 6'2 185.
Pretty great shirt, but the neck seems to be a bit wide even though I have a think neck. The shirt is warm but the wide neck keeps making my neck feel cold. I will probably be returning.
I am impressed with how well this garment fills its niche. Too heavy for temperatures 32+; too light for 12 degrees or lower. But it's great for somewhere in between. Mainly, it adds needed flexibility to technical layering. Would buy again.
I ordered one about a month ago and just purchased another! I'm a patagonia fan and this shirt is the real deal. warm and comfy. i'm 5'9" and 155lbs. and the medium fits great.
I had hoped this would replace my husband 8 year old, favorite capilene fleece crew that we burned a few holes in last winter. Well, it isn't fleece, but it sure is a nice warm layer and is getting more wear than the fleece crew.
