The Patagonia Kids' Capilene 3 Zip-Neck Base Layer adds fast-wicking insulation to your child's winter wear, so he stays warmer during the winter months. Gusseted underarms allow for great freedom of movement to allow your kid to really follow through with a snowball fast pitch, and flat seams decrease bunching with other layers. The Capilene 3 top also uses 64% recycled fibers to give your kid a head start on thinking environmentally.

Bottom Line: More warmth and a better snowball toss courtesy of the Patagonia 3 Kid's Base Layer.

all I can say is, my son was happy

No news is good news. My son never complaned of being cold and didn't tell me, "this zipper is annoying," as I feared he might. This shirt looks like it will hold up well to lots of use.

A good fit for any occasion

The XXS fits my 3 year old perfectly. Granted there is a bit of extra in the length in the arms and legs but I assume this is intentional since after at age 3 children start to grow faster in height than in width - plus an exact fit in the legs would prove to be to restrictive for a child who flexes in every which way. The capilene items are more form fit, yet no to the point of restrictive or irritating so they work great for layering, and provide a good deal of warmth when doing so. As well they can be used as a great pair of PJ's, and the zip top is cute enough to wear alone as a top with just about any pair of pants. The zip neck is sized well and leaves enough room underneath so as not to irritate my sometimes fussy 3 year old. Not as soft as Merino wool, but less expensive and more durable.

Perfect Kids layer

XS is a bit big for my 4 yr old, but fits my 6 yr old great. This Zip-Neck and the matching capilene bottoms are sweet layers.
