Description

Comfort is key.

Gear up appropriately for your winter activities and pull on the Patagonia Men’s Capilene 3 Bottom. This quick-drying, moisture-wicking, breathable bottom leaves you comfortable and warm when you bag early morning peaks or lounge around the lodge. A gusseted crotch allows for easy moving, while a contoured cut and brushed surface make for easy layering. Patagonia's Gladiodor keeps the smell down for multi-day tours.

This bottom is very versatile for a mid- high activity piece. I have used this skiing in the upper Midwest and they kept me fairly warm on single digit days. I am 6' 180 and the sizing is spot on with a Medium. For colder temps or lower activity days, the Cap 4 is the go to peice for me.

I use them all the time. Love them! And when they get dirty, just throw them in the washer and dryer. They haven't shrunk yet, and I've been using them for a year now.

Watch out, this is not so slim fit as it says. I ordered an L first and had to replace it with an M (i'm a 6"2-164lb guy)

Used it for 7 days straight on a backcountry ski trip. I wore it under my hardshell bibs during the day and in my bag at night and it performed perfectly keeping me warm and dry from 60 down to 10 degrees.

The capilene 3 have served me well for the past few seasons. It works great if the temps are between 5-30 degrees. If it's a particularly cold day, the capilene 4 is the way to go, but for your average day on the hill, these will work really well!
I also wear these under a softshell from XC skiing. For the more active XC skier, I'd suggest the capliene 2 since you'll be moving around a bit more... but if you're just doin some classic skiing, the 3 will be perfect!
Compared to a midweight wool baselayer, they perform about the same, although the wool will feel a little lighter.

These are my favorite base later for most days of skiing. If it's going to be especially cold, I'll wear the Patagonia Capilene 4 Bottoms (PAT3054). I wear size 36 jeans and I like the fit of the size large.

I've worn these numerous times in low teen weather, with only jeans over them, and they have done an awesome job! They keep my legs warm when I'm idle and do not cause me to overheat when I am moving. I've gotten them wet several times, not on purpose, from rain and snow and they dry very quickly without even taking them off. Couldn't ask for more.

Comfortable, soft, non-restrictive, warm...what else are you looking for? Purchased for skiing and would do so again. 4 stars due to price but like anything else if you're willing to pay what they're asking then who are you to complain?

These are a great pair of long underwear, Patagonia's capilene fabric feels great against the skin, these work well under ski pants for temps around 20+, anything lower would require some extra layering. Love em!

I have tried several different types of long underwear in the past, but this is my first pair of Capilene pants. I have to say that I am very impressed and pleased with this material. The Cap-3 is lightweight, highly compressible, breathable, flexible, warm, and comfortable. They fit close to the skin, but do not constrict like tights or bunch up behind the knees or under the crotch. These pants deliver all the things, and more, that I want from my base layer.

My biggest complaint with most mid-weight base layers is that they tend to be pretty shabby at keeping in the heat when the storm sets in. However, I find myself pleasantly surprised with the Cap-3 material and its heat management abilities. When paired with a shell pant, these are all the insulation I need. Plus, the material is thin enough to fit into my tight boots along with my socks. At 5’10” 175 lbs. I found the Medium to be a perfect fit.

These are not just expensive pajamas.
