You don't need anything holding you back when you're pulling through the final crux of your climb or running the last quarter of your marathon, so get the Patagonia Men's Capilene 2 Lightweight Crew. Patagonia made this shirt with its stretchiest baselayer fabric so you can reach for that far jug without any restrictions. When it gets cold, this baselayer's jersey face helps you slide mid-layers and snow shells over easily.

  • Polartec Power Dry fabric is lightweight, wicks moisture quickly, and holds Patagonia's record for the fastest drying time
  • Open knit structure is naturally stretchy and breathes well for a comfortable climb
  • Polygiene permanent odor control keeps you feeling fresh after backpacking for a few days
  • Slim fit allows you to layer over this for skiing on chilly days
  • Raglan sleeves and underarm panels prevent bulking when worn with a backpack
  • Flat-rib panel under the arms and sides eliminate armpit chafing and breathe comfortably

Great shirts

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These have been my go-to shirts for years. They change every once in a while. I really like the ones I received in 2014. They're a little heavier and tighter. They are great workout shirts, or as a base layer. They're not on the Patagonia site any more so I wonder if they're discontinued.

Lovely, but like the 2012 version better

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The fit is good and same build, but I like the logo and cuffs on the 2012 better. I'll still wear the heck outta this one, but wish they'd go back to the classic look of the 2012 and previous years. Still great quality and fit as always though....

I like my capilene shirts to fit a little...

I like my capilene shirts to fit a little loose. What size should I get? I'm 6'3", 185 with a 31" waist and a 42" chest.

Responded on

My recommendation would be to get a large. But this is based off of past iterations (if the sizing has changed then maybe look for someone with the current version).

I am 6', 170 lbs. The Cap 2 Medium fits me... athletically? (Not next to skin, but not loose).

So a large should be loose on you and fit comfortably. If you want *baggy*, get an XL.

great winter layer

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift
  • Fit: True to size

This is a great layer, it's lightweight but warm, wicks really quickly to keep me from freezing, and doesn't seem like it will snag. Fits true to size.

Fastest drying base layer

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have owned a couple of versions of Capilene 2 including the latest iteration. I've worn it, around town, as an undershirt, skiing, climbing, backpacking and it never lets me down.

This past summer I even used it as a towel to dry out the inside of my tent after an awesome storm caught me in the open. The next day I put it on wet and it dried out so fast I was amazed.

The new model fits kinda tight at first but it has formed to fit me since I first got it. I am a size small 5' 11" 150lbs.
