  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

I purchased this to attend a line dancing party and it ended up being great in the woods too! It arrived mega fast in the mail and has a sweet, sweet running mate named Patagonia Capilene 2 Lightweight Bottom. The dance party was lame but i'm definitely going camping again cuz I stayed soooo toasty and dry.
I chose Nickle/Tailored grey because I love Seagulls.

Nice shirt

I bought one on sale and should've bought two because my 16 yo son and my 51 yo husband are sharing it. Great layering piece that looks good too.

Love it

These have been my go-to shirts for years. They change every once in a while. I really like the ones I received in 2014. They're a little heavier and tighter. They are great workout shirts, or as a base layer. They're not on the Patagonia site any more so I wonder if they're discontinued.

Love it

Wear this all the time. From tele skiing to travel, and even under a sweater at work. It's warm and comfortable.

Who doesn't love Capilene?

I have tons of Capilene shirts and bottoms in about every size and fit they come in but I find that men's smalls fit the best. This shirt is great for me except as usual with Patagonia I wish it was longer in the body and the arms.

Good, but not durable

I watched a friends pair of capilene 2s fall apart with in a month on the Appalachian trail. A pair of long underwear from wal-mart lasted longer...

Aside from their lack or durability, they are nice, breathable and light weight.

Great shirts

Lovely, but like the 2012 version better

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

The fit is good and same build, but I like the logo and cuffs on the 2012 better. I'll still wear the heck outta this one, but wish they'd go back to the classic look of the 2012 and previous years. Still great quality and fit as always though....

Fastest drying base layer

I have owned a couple of versions of Capilene 2 including the latest iteration. I've worn it, around town, as an undershirt, skiing, climbing, backpacking and it never lets me down.

This past summer I even used it as a towel to dry out the inside of my tent after an awesome storm caught me in the open. The next day I put it on wet and it dried out so fast I was amazed.

The new model fits kinda tight at first but it has formed to fit me since I first got it. I am a size small 5' 11" 150lbs.

I like my capilene shirts to fit a little...

I like my capilene shirts to fit a little loose. What size should I get? I'm 6'3", 185 with a 31" waist and a 42" chest.

My recommendation would be to get a large. But this is based off of past iterations (if the sizing has changed then maybe look for someone with the current version).

I am 6', 170 lbs. The Cap 2 Medium fits me... athletically? (Not next to skin, but not loose).

So a large should be loose on you and fit comfortably. If you want *baggy*, get an XL.
