Who knows where the black hole will take you.

Prepare for multi-dimensional travel—or just a week-long getaway—by packing your climbing, hiking, or travel gear in Patagonia's Black Hole 90L Duffel Bag. Inspired by rugged-yet-light alpine packs, the Black Hole features a burly ripstop fabric coated in a TPU laminate and a DWR finish for the ultimate in outdoors protection. The padded base protects your gear throughout the trip, and Patagonia padded the removable shoulder strap and removable backpack straps for comfort. Internal organizers and zippered mesh pockets organize all the small things, while the external side pocket stows the duffel for compact storage. Compression straps prevent your gear from bouncing around whether you're traveling via airplane or four-wheeler.

Use it for everything even business

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought a slightly smaller version in 2012 for a 2 week arctic excursion. It held everything except my camera gear which I keep in its own camera backpack. I Iove it so much I have not used a conventional roll-aboard since then. I travel 100k miles a year for business and this is all I use now. I can get it in the overhead space of a small regional airplane where others have to valet their roll-aboard. I use for back country in Alaska and recently took it to Antarctica. But the best part is when your traveling along cobblestone streets in Europe and you just sling it over your back. Think of using a rollaboard on cobblestones!

    These are the best

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I have this big in the 60L, so I ordered some for family members in the 90L as they travel quite a bit. The quality can't be beat, and the 90L is definitely big enough for a week long trip.

    My travel companion

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I started out buying the 45L and have used it so much, I had to buy the larger 90L. These bags are nearly bulletproof and I love (emphasis) the fact that the lid zips around and then flips out of the way and the contrast color on the interior -- both very helpful when digging to find a specific item. These bags are my travel and gear storage staples. Perfect for road trips and airline travel. My suggestion, start with a smaller size and work your way up with future purchases. You'll find a use from basic gym bag to gear laden road trip companion. Not enough praise for these bags!

    One in every size!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

We now have one in every size. The backpack and the waterproof, durability of this bag makes it our new favorite bags! You cannot meet these bags. This is our favorite size as it is ver versatile from a trip to backing for a day outing for the whole family. We seem to use this size for everything as our family bag!

    Look no further!!

Greatest bag ever made! Love it for hauling fly fishing and snowboarding gear! Patagonia knocked it out of the park with this one.

    Awesome bag!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I can't stand rolly, hard frame suitcases, even the softsided ones that pretend to be duffles. This bag goes from plane to boat to truck with no problems. It's durable, water proof and the shoulder straps help me get it through the airport. Highly recommended!

Can't get enough of these bags!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Have the 90L and the 60L and I use them constantly!! Especially the 60L. I can't say enough good things about these bags. The 90L I can fit 2 pairs of ski boots plus all my ski gear for a week long trip. The 60L I use for taking things to work, packing for q weekend, a race, an overnight. I had shoulder surgery this summer and so I could only put weight on one shoulder. I used the backpack strap on the 60L to rig up a bag that let me go backpacking and backcountry skiing while keeping the bag on just one shoulder! The backpack straps are great!

    Perfect for Climbing Trips

This bag is the Perfect size for climbing trips where you can only bring one bag. I'm able to fit a weeks worth of clothes, toiletries, hiking boots, 2 down jackets, rain jacket, guidebook, harness, Helmet, 2 pairs of climbing shoes, chalk bag, trad rack, 60m rope and still have a little room left over.

      Travel worthy bag!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this bag and one smaller size to replace some Patagonia duffle bags that I have had for over 20 years. This bag comes stuffed in one of the inner zipper pockets of the bag and can be a little challenging to unstuff, but it is possible!! The size of this one is perfect for a week long travel and then some. The zippers are very durable and allow you to stuff quite a bit of gear inside without the worry of the zipper busting. I love the feature of the backpack straps, which makes for easy transport (my old bags didn't have this feature). Smaller internal pocket allows you to keep up with smaller items that you don't want to have to dig to the bottom of the bag to find. Outer material can withstand some rain if you get caught in a light shower while traveling, although it's not a waterproof bag. The padded bottom offers some added protection for sensitive gear. It says you can stow the bag back inside the zippered stow pocket it came in, however I think that would be a real struggle to achieve. Overall I've been pleased with this bag so far and if it holds up as long as my other Patagonia luggage I'll be very happy!

      Duffle of doom

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

One of the best gear purchases I've made. Top end materials and construction, burly fabric with padded bottom, backpack straps, serious zippers, and an array of cool colors. The pockets it has are great for a duffle bag. Should last for years .

      Solid bag

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have this and a similar marmot bag. The marmot is more gear hauler and this is closer to a duffel although both could serve either purpose. The pat just has a few more pockets and organized/separates items slightly easier. The exterior of the Patagonia is easier to clean ...more like a latex cat suit Madonna might wear.
They are both tough enough and will outlive any other bags I own. When you open the top you have full access to the entire bag. Couple small mesh inner pockets and one side exterior one that's pretty slim. I got the gaudy blue one in a large size and it has more than enough room for everything I usually need. I haven't used the straps but they come off and on pretty easily.

      best bag ever

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

We bought these bags for our two high school boys soon on their way to college. We at first ordered the next smaller size, but that really isn't enough for more than a couple days away. These are sized perfectly for a getaway of 4-5 days, incredibly durable, easy to carry with the backpack straps. Cool colors.

      Great duffle!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I used the 90 L bag to travel to China. I found it to be very durable and withstood the beating it took in the airport and on trains and metros and buses. I bought it for the shoulder straps and the durable external material. I had it in rain showers, but not a downpour and my things were dry. I fit in a standard size therma-rest sleeping pad and down sleeping bag with plenty of room for clothing, computer, accessories and souvenirs to bring home. It's been a good quality product for me thus far.

      black hole
      n.
      1. A massive star in the last phase of its evolution, in which the star collapses, creating a volume of space-time with a gravitational field so intense that its escape velocity equals or exceeds that of light.
      2. A great void; an abyss:

This bag is just that. It doesn't come with directions, but if it did, it lives up to number 2. If I were to be the writer, they would state: 1) set on ground. 2) unzip. 3) fill bag, undlessly keep filling until you have no more gear to put inside of it. 4) wish you had more stuff to put inside of it

I have had this bag for quite awhile. There have been minor changes to the back pack straps, but other than that it does the job. The material is weather and water resistant which is nice for when you are off the grid. The back pack straps are incredibly useful for when you become a human pack mule hauling your gear to remote destinations, or just moving to a new state. The daisy chains help stack em up for when you have more than one so it helps when you have them strapped to a llama in a remote place. This bag lives up to its name. I highly recommend. If you want a better idea of what it can hold, feel free to send me an email or give me a call and I can give you a list that will make your eyes big. It holds more than you think and if I listed it all here this review would never end. An abyss

      The best duffel

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is the best duffel bag hands down, I took this to the Yosemite valley and fit everything that I need for 7 days of climbing and adventuring in it. I'd recommend this to anyone who needs a great adventure bag that can hold anything and everything.

Would the 90L be able to accommodate two ski boots as well as clothing for a 5-7 day ski trip?

Do you ship to Korea this product?

Hey! We cannot ship patagonia outside of the United States. if you have any other questions, feel free to email or give me a call. Thanks!

      Is it waterproof?

      Best Answer

Hey Ashley - the short answer is yes, the Patagonia Black Hole Duffels are waterproof. The 900D polyester ripstop outer material and DWR finish will keep your belongings dry in most situations. I would not however recommend this for rafting or other water adventures where a true dry sack would be more appropriate. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.
