As at home rolling through ancient narrow alleys in exotic locales as it is through gleaming modern airports, the Patagonia Black Hole 45L Wheeled Duffel does it all. Highly water-resistant thanks to the TPU-film laminate and DWR coating, and super durable because of the 1200D polyester fabric, the Black Hole 45L can take a beating—and keep rolling.

You can throw this bag around by its haul handles without fear, because the bottom is padded with foam to protect contents; and when you're traversing nothing but concrete, use the telescoping handle to pull this puppy and let the wheels do the working. Patagonia knows that load and tie-down options are essential with gear bags, so it has provided four corner-mounted webbing daisy chains for the big loads. Getting into the bag is a snap, with the U-shaped lid to the main compartment. Stay organized with the zippered exterior pocket and two zippered internal mesh pockets.

Excellent Travel Bag

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this bag to replace my current carry on travel bag. It packs well and it fits perfectly in the over head compartment on all airlines unless Frontier Airlines asks to measure it in there undersize box at the gate to get more money out of you. It will fit in the over head bin. The I use this bag for all my travels in the US and to mexico and Costa Rica. I highly recommend this Bag!!!

What are the dimensions of this pack?

Pack it and Forget it

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I feel so comfortable traveling with my Patagonia bag that I am never concerned about the items I put in it. I travel and fly a lot on weekend trips for bike racing but requires me to bring my equipment along with some casual clothes. This fits all my clothes and race gear for different weather conditions, and even some space for goodies on the way back. It is also small enough for a weekend travel bag without being too over-the-top.

I have never tried to carry it on to a flight, I am a little nervous on the sizing, but I imagine if it is not full you could get a way with it on a normal size flight. I wish there were a few more compartments, but honestly, the zippered pouches on the underside of the main flap are great, and there is a small external zipper pouch as well. Adjustable handle, wheels, what more do you need??

Best Travel Bag!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this bag! It fits so much stuff and easy to maneuver. It fits in almost all over head bins but beware that if they ask you to measure it in the little thing outside the won't fit and you will have to check it. I have only been asked once in 10 times to do this. It is super durable and would highly recommend!
