    The trifecta of comfort.

Patagonia made the sweater better by combining the best comforts out of a sweater, a hoodie, and a fleece. Worn as a midlayer, the Better Sweater's soft fleece warms your way up cold chairlifts, and the sweater-knit exterior stays clean when you wear it camping. Smooth flatlock seams enhance comfort, and there's a zippered sleeve pocket that secures your valuables.

    Pilling is out of control

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit:True to size

Bought this for my boyfriend about a year ago. He loves it. It's super warm, and he loves the hood and that the pockets zip.
The problem with the better sweater is the pilling. It's sooo bad! I even exchanged it at Patagonia for a new one because after a couple of months it had gotten so bad. We even wash it inside out and hang dry it every time. The lady at Patagonia was well aware of how bad the pilling is on these sweaters.
I ended up buying one of the pill shavers on Amazon. It does the job, but keep in mind that every time you use it, you are also losing fabric. Luckily Patagonia has a lifetime warranty, so I guess I can just keep exchanging it for a new one if I want.
Overall, warm and functional, but the pilling can make it look rather used and ugly after only a short period of time.

    Instant Favorite

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit:True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

The Patagonia Better Sweater instantly became one of my favorite pieces of clothing to wear. The fit is spot on for a size medium. Comfort is off the charts, especially the lining in the hand warmer pockets...I'm not sure what they used but it's what I imagine baby unicorns feel like. One thing I'm glad Patagonia omitted is thumb holes...so happy...thank you for leaving those off this garment.

Comparing this hoody to the Kuhl Interceptor hoody: I wear a Large in the Kuhl versus a medium in the Patagonia. The material is softer in the Patagonia. The Kuhl has thumb holes in it and they seem to stay open all the time.

    In love!

    • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit:True to size

I bought this fleece for my brother for Christmas. He ended up wearing it for 4 days straight afterwards. He's a skinny dude and wears size small in most jackets, hoodies, shirts so at first he thought this was a little too large (size small). After wearing it around for a bit, he realized it was perfect since he might end up using this to ski or wear to tailgates and would end up layering underneath. It's really soft and warm. He is obsessed.

    hope this helps

I felt obligated to write a review about this bc i've seen in numerous places that the sizing is off. For some people this may be the case, but i'm 5'8 160 and am a medium in generally everything and this is on-par with sizing. In fact it fits pretty damn good. Sleeve length is fine. Maybe it's just me but i didn't find it to run large in any aspect. I own the 1/4 Zip as well, which i think i may like even better than this and fit is basically the same. hope this helps somebody

      Misfit

      • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit:Runs large
      • Size Bought: medium

Great material and overall design. But arms for meds are strangely way long. Too bad body fits great.

      So cozy...

      • Familiarity:I've used it several times
      • Fit:Runs large
      • Size Bought: medium

Coziest sweater i own by far. Winter is going to be good in this piece. Im 5'10" 170lbs and a medium is a little baggy on me, wish i had gone down to a small. The material and make of the sweater is top notch, and I cant put into words properly how amazingly cozy and warm i feel in this thing.

I agree with everything Tim said, except I dont think it runs large. I ordered a small based on Tim's review, and it was perfect in the arms and too slim in the mid section (Tim and I are about the same size). I returned the small for a medium and it fits great!

Does this have a cinch cord at the bottom?

      what's three panel hood mean

Mohammad, Three panel hoods hold their shape and form best. They don't press down tight on your head, or hang loosely and easily fall off. They also give a natural look to your neck shape, instead of giving you a rectangular look between your neck and head. Let me know if I can help with anything else!

      I'm 5'11" 240 with a 42 waist what size should I get ?
