From now on, going commando will just mean dressing up in fatigues for Halloween. You have a new pair of underwear you won’t even feel or see through your yoga pants—the Patagonia Women’s Barely Bikini Underwear. Patagonia’s super soft wicking material, seamless construction, and single-ply elastic binding makes for a pair of drawers you can forget you’re wearing. A lacy texture makes you look like a girl, even if you’re wearing camo green face paint.
Bought them for running/working out, but they're so comfortable and seamless that I'm saving my pennies to buy a pair for every day of the week! Worth every cent. They lay flat against hips (no annoying bulges!), wick well, dry quickly, can be worn with low rise pants/shorts, zero VPL. Simply love them.
In short, I'm pretty skeptical of a $20 pair of underwear, but I want to wear them all the time, so it's not a high cost per wear over the lifetime of the panties. To me, they are worth it.
I decided, daringly, to order three pairs of these Barely Bikinis without trying them before. They were on sale, and I already loved the two pairs of the fuller-coverage Patagonia Active Briefs I had. They had rapidly become the first ones I put on whenever I had the choice.
The Barely Bikinis are better in some ways, and I'm glad I went ahead and got all three colors. They are as soft as the Active Briefs, but I don't have to worry about wearing them with low cut jeans. The cut is very flattering, they stay in place, they are breathable and comfortable. There isn't even a tag to annoy or irritate.
Other observations: they are definitely a thinner fabric than the Active Briefs (a plus in the humidity, maybe a minus in cold weather). Honestly, I haven't tried them in potential panty-line situations, so I can't comment on that.
Incidentally, I also ordered the Mountain Hardwear Advance Lightweight Brief (those sales really sucked me in). They are fine and I like them, but they are the size of a swimsuit bottom.

What's the dry time on these? I'm traveling in just a carry-on for a month, and I'm looking to buy just two pairs to sink wash as I go... will they dry overnight?
These undies are fantastic. They are excellent for working out and every other function one can think of. They are lightweight and wick moisture away. These are worth the $20 a pair because the somewhat skinny straps are wide enough that they don't cut into your leg/hip but skinny enough that if you have a "fuller hip" they still flatter the body. Also these undies give your back end full coverage so you don't show off your "assets" to the world without having to feel like you constantly have a wedgie (like thongs do). Hooray for Patagonia! DON'T DISCONTINUE THESE!!!! :)
They are great for sitting in the office or up skiing on the hill. They don't bunch and are super comfortable. The cost is the only thing holding me back from buying 10 pairs!
In full disclosure, I'm the Product Manager for this product, but I will tell you that I love this fabric and this style. Made from recycled polyester (76% anyway), they are lighter weight than my former favorites, the Active Hipsters. The knit in jaquard is pretty, and the shape is downright sexy while still covering everything.
I realize that $20 is not inexpensive for a pair of panties, but these are worth the price. They are silky soft, stay put and feel like you're wearing nothing. I bought these because my cotton panties are a nightmare under my compression pants and shorts and the style of compression clothing I wear requires panties due to the construction seams rubbing places you don't want to be rubbed. When I run marathons, my cotton panties bunch up, get soaked with perspiration and cause a nasty fanny rash. They say "cotton is rotten" for athletics for a reason. These panties solve those problems. They stay put, feel like you're wearing nothing and wick the moisture away from your body. I loved them so much I bought three pairs. It's worth the money to me to be cool and comfortable when I train and race.
I bought these for hiking in hot weather but they quickly became my favorite for everyday as well. They never, EVER bunch up and always stay dry. I've had three pairs for two months, washing them nearly every week (in a tumble washer, not one with an agitator) and they have held up perfectly. They have less of a pantyline than regular cotton briefs. I'm back to buy more!
