This dress fits great, is very comfortable and flattering. It can be dressed up or dressed down. It is fantastic for traveling since it is so versatile and the fabric packs well. One of me favorite dresses!

Not as flattering in person

By:
May 8, 2011

This dress just isn't as flattering in person as it is in the pictures. I think it's a bit too long. While I generally love Patagonia dresses, this one tends to sit in my closet for months on end without being worn.

No, not at all. I think that's the wrong color shown entirely. The attached pic is a much better represenation of the Goji Berry color.

Perfect dress for a beach wedding

By:
May 3, 2011

Ordered this dress in goji berry to wear at a beach wedding in Mexico. It came out of the suitcase without a wrinkle. I'm only 5'3", so had to hem it (I got the earlier, longer version). Other than the length, however, the fit was perfect. Flattering and comfortable, even in the heat and humidity. After we got home, I threw it in the washer and it came out looking great. Wish it came in more soft, earthy colors.

Awesome!

By:
February 28, 2011

Wish this dress was available in a hundred colors! It is so flattering and feels like wearing nothing! Thick enough to cover panty lines (but looks great with nothing at all underneath!). Works well for large busts or small busts. Taking two with me to the Amazon , The Inca Trail and the Galapagos tomorrow for layering and relief from pants (ugh). Washes and dries like a dream. Could even be worn over a top of similar fabric. Graceful length. I'm 5'8" 135lbs wear a 6-8 and the M fits perfectly.

Lovely!

By:
January 12, 2010

I'm very happy with the fit, fabric, and color of this dress. I got a size small in cranberry. The color is even prettier in person--very rich. I am 5'7, 120lbs. The dress is perfect and very flattering--not too clingy, just nice and flowy. It is a nice swimsuit-like material that seems durable. I think it could be dressed up or down very nicely. It is, however, a bit long. Like I said, I'm 5'7, and the dress is definitely mid calf. All in all, a classy dress!

Just wondering how this dress fits in terms of sizing--is the small a generous small ? And is the fabric clingy?

I think the sizing is true to size. I ordered a small, since so many things have been too generously sized lately, but I returned it for a medium. I normally wear a 6 or 8, and I'm tall (5'10"). The medium fits me very well. I have toned arms that are slender and this dress accentuates that well, also. It's a great travel dress. The fabric is not flimsy, at all. It has body to it and thus it isn't a clingy knit. I really like this dress and I'm happy that I bought it!

If you wear a half-slip underneath, it helps.

Color note!

By:
October 17, 2008

I ordered this dress in black and loved it, so I ordered one in daybreak. The photo makes the color seem more blue than I think it actually is. It's a very pretty bluish gray, but more gray than I expected. I noticed the comment below about the lupine actually being blue, so I'm exchanging it for that color! But the fit and comfort are exceptional!

great dress, easy and feminine

By:
August 30, 2008

I received this dress first as a gift, and I loved it so much I bought it in another color. COMFY and feminine; I always get compliments on it. Doesn't look like athletic wear. One complaint: the color I ordered was Lupine, which looks like a pretty purple in the photo on-line. When it came, it was light blue. I don't know if backcountry sent the wrong item, or if the picture shows the color wrong. Either way, the light blue that arrived is pretty so I kept it.

great for hot weather

By:
March 5, 2011

This dress performs well in the heat. It's extremely flattering and comfortable. The only thing that irritated me about this dress is that it WRINKLES. Terribly. In terms of packing this dress, don't be surprised when it comes out of your suitcase looking a mess, which I found odd for a tech fabric dress. Also, the amount of spandex in the fabric doesn't allow the dress to drape well. That being said, my issues with the dress are more to do with my own OCD nit picking, b/c every time I wear this dress I get a TON of compliments. I also like the length. The new redesigned Bandha is above the knee (and it has more of a cap sleeve), which is fine but it takes away from the more elegant look of this dress. Overall I really do like it...just wish it didn't wrinkle!!

Very nice dress

Very nice dress and the fabric flows so nicely! The drawback for me is that it's a bit loose in the hips.

A Little Awkward

By:
July 7, 2010

I got this dress after seeing all of the positive reviews. I am 5'6" and found the length was way, way too long and almost came to my ankles! Also, the cut seemed a little boxy and not so feminine. I ended up returning it because for the cost, it wasn't so flattering and the length made it look even more awkward. The quality seemed nice, but I might try searching for another Patagonia dress.

Versatility a plus

By:
March 16, 2010

I'm trying buy more versatile clothes that can serve dual purposes. This is a great piece to wear after a session of hot yoga (it wicking) but also conservative enough for me to wear while travelling. Easy care and relatively hang-and-wear ready, a great piece for the price. A little longer than I thought it would be, but no complaints.

fits great

By:
February 17, 2010

Always wanted a dress I could easily travel with. Dress is cut nicely--not too tight, cleavage not too deep. Found it for a great price on this website. (lower than others) I wear petite so the length of the dress is longer on me than it would be for taller women. I agree that you could dress this up or down; however there is a seam that runs down the middle so you can't hide that.

Comfortable, flattering dress

By:
November 22, 2009

This dress fits great. I have broad shoulders and am pretty apprehensive about getting this type of cut, but I went ahead and tried it and it fits perfectly. The fabric is flowy, and if it has wrinkles in it, just hang it for a day and the wrinkles all flatten out. It is on the long side; I am 5'6' and it hits me mid calf. (I bought the medium).

funky arms

By:
July 16, 2009

great design and lines, easy care sophisticated piece - but cut didn't work for me. If you have a strong upper body presence, (lats, delts) the arm holes will be tight- oddly tight and the dress will not hang properly. Bummer because it's a nice design and fabric; though a bit heavy for hot summer climates

A very stylish and flattering dress. I bought it for a cruise I recently went on and when I took it out of my suitcase and hung it up, any wrinkles fell right out.

Great Fit, very versatile

By: Backcountry.com Employee
April 1, 2010

This dress by Patagonia has a wonderful fit- fitted up top and flares out nicely. The fabric won't wrinkle so it's great for travel and can easily be dressed up for a night on the town or worn with flip flops for a casual look. And the length is longer so no worries about getting caught on a windy day! I'd say that it runs slightly bigger so if you are looking for a more fitted look, go down a size.
