A Patagonia classic, the Men’s Baggies Shorts are at home in the water, on the trail, and anywhere in between. A DWR coated nylon body lined with comfortable mesh dries quickly and breathes well. The elastic waistband with internal drawcord gives you a casual fit with the ability to tighten when the going gets a little more serious. Patagonia designers have integrated a snap back pocket to secure valuables when you get to bushwhacking.

Here's what others have to say...

Are they designed to wear boxer shorts...

Posted on

Are they designed to wear boxer shorts under (given they have a mesh liner)?

Responded on

Hey Nick,

I would think that boxers paired with these shorts would be a little on the uncomfortable side. Boxers or briefs? kind of the age old preference debate of men. If you have some boxer briefs that fit closer to the skin than boxers, I would use them. This will prevent any potential for riding up fabric and thus potential self inflicted wedgies.

Best shorts ever.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Durable, practical, comfy and fit great.

Wear them anywhere, do anything in them.

5" for Europe, 7" for everything.

These shorts rule.

Love my baggies!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Bought my first pair in summer of 07. These are the best shorts I've ever owned. Truly a "do anything" pair of shorts. Whether it be hiking or bar crawling you're going to be comfortable and looking good.

Best shorts!

Best shorts!

I have been wearing these shorts almost everyday during the last two summers -- around the house, backpacks, hikes, climbs, runs, swims, etc. -- and they still show very little wear. I felt like a dummy buying a $50 pair of shorts ... turns out, it was totally worth it!

Hey Jason just for reference, Are these the 5 inch or the 7 inch inseam?
Thanks for the review man.

Unless he's 7 feet tall, those are the 5" shorts.

Simply the best

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These are unquestionably the most versatile shorts I own. I wear them for hiking, traveling, and lounging. The baggies sport a very simple design but are well made. As a result, I use them all the time.

Great Shorts

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I sported these on a 33-day canoe trip this past summer, with rugged conditions and the did an amazing job. They would dry quickly, were a tough material, didn't chafe and had a great retro look to them. They are a little short, but they are better to walk in because of that. Highly recommend.

Great year round

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Touch cold in the winter - but only getting too/from the hot springs. Perfect once you're in. Great for everything else. Perfect for spending days on the river. Or backpacking, or climbing, or well, the list goes on. Fits true to size and lasts!

Perfect!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

These are great shorts! Perfect to take on a hike, or for a swim. I love that they have longer and shorter versions, too. Normally, I think Patagonia runs slightly large, but these seem to be a perfect fit.

Everyday attire

I wear these everywhere. In the summer I'll wear these wading in the river while fishing. I've taken them on the AT and they held up well. They're super comfortable and fit well. I wear a 38 and the L was a bit tight on me, I recommend a XL for that waist size.

You should own a pair of these

I got them on sale so it was a complete no-brainer but seriously, if you're considering at all, get them. I don't need to go into details because these are so solid they don't matter. The comfort, look, and durability are simply things that you want and these will give you all three.

Great for the Pool

I purchased these for the Summer pool season- good fit and not too long not too short. They are great quality and should last multiple seasons

Do these shrink much when you wash...

Do these shrink much when you wash them?

Responded on

These shorts are made of 100% nylon, so they shouldn't shrink at all.

Great shorts

I have four pairs of these shorts. They are part of my go-to uniform for everything except for church and work.

Sweet Shorts!

Dry super fast, and really comfortable. They're perfect for swimming, hanging out, and pretty much do it all. They are fast becoming my favorite shorts!

Baggies is right !

I had a pair off these years ago. Of course they dont make them the same now, different material. There great and all that but I have an issue with their sizing. I ware a 38 and they say a 38 is XL so thats what I got and their tooooo big. Large would of been just fine. Like all Patagonia stuff its only worth buying on sale.

I'll be buying more pairs

I'm a husky fella (5'9" 225lbs) and these are the best fitting/cut swim trunks I've ever come across. The lemon lime trunks I originally got (large) still look the same as the day I got them. I recently picked up a another pair, but I decided to go down a size. The mediums are a tad too small, and the larges a tad too big.

I've worn them for a week straight while camping/hiking and didn't have a single problem. No chafing, no riding up or falling down. Just comfort.
