Go back and change out of those cotton undies; girl, what are you thinking?

However you're going at getting active, the Patagonia Women’s Active Brief is up to the adventure. The brief's stretchy recycled polyester-spandex blend wicks moisture away so you’re comfortable and dry during any heart-pounding activity, which the mini-rib crotch adds breathability. The seamless waistband lies flat against your skin, and the soft single-sided edging at the leg openings won't chafe or creep.

Bought 2 pairs for 10-day backpacking trips to Alaska. Wore a pair and wash out the dirty one by the river at the end of the day. They dried in a flash, even in 30 degree overcast weather. They fit comfortably and never ride up.

...Fast forward 11 years later, I still have my 2 original pairs, they've been holding up well and look "under aged" :-) despite regular usage. I've since been buying more over the years, and have a collection of different stripes and solids and love them all. While the fit/sizing has changed over the years, they still fit (after getting the right size) and still don't ride up. I don't backpack much now but have been doing lots of trail running. These are my 'close' companion for almost all my running adventures.

I now only wish Patagonia makes a merino version of the same undies.

These are definitely a high-cut, bikini brief style: they come up to cover my hips and because of the high cut, they don't give 100% butt coverage.

The pros: Quick drying, of course. Super lightweight, thin, silky smooth fabric. Hardly feels like you're wearing underwear at all.

The con: Hardly feels like you're wearing underwear... until they ride up. They stayed in place fine while I was walking around, but as soon as I started running, well, hello! On the bright side, because they're so thin and smooth and non-chafing, the bit of a wedgie I had really wasn't that uncomfortable.

I liked them enough that I'll continue to wear these for everyday walking and traveling situations, just not for heavy exercise. I've seen reviews of these elsewhere that said they don't ride up, so other people might get lucky; I guess I just don't have the right booty for these briefs.
