Patagonia reduces relative humidity in your shorts with the Men's Active Boxer Brief. These boxer briefs feature wicking Capilene fabric that moves moisture and heat away from your skin, so you don't overheat. Trail running, climbing, and backcountry skiing all become more comfortable in Patagonia's fitted boxers. With its smooth surface, Capilene won't bunch or ride up, and this underwear works wonders under hiking shorts or even suit pants.
Bottom Line: Control your climate with the Patagonia Active Boxer Brief.
these fit well. but loosen up after a few hours of wearing. they are also very susceptible to body funk. i am a pretty clean dude when it comes to personal hygiene, but these will still always get that funk by days end. the best i have found for outdoor pursuits (fit and ability to stay fresh) are actually calvin klein micro modals
I love these for their small form factor, (as in they do not take up a lot of space in your stuff sacks etc.). They fit very well, although I have two pair both the same size, and they fit differently, odd. I've worn these for century cycle rides (dont ask), trail running and backpacking, love em..(and they do a good job avoiding the stank that other capilene products seem to pick up).

These boxer briefs are incredible! I wore them for an entire week and they still smelled great! They are extremely comfortable and affordable! great pair of underwear!
thats just a bit gross, but very nice to know, because I'm leaving for 5 months and I will want something that i can wear for several days and not have to worry about washing
The Patagonia Active Boxer Briefs are absolutely The Best, so light and dare I say.....Sexy, yes my wife loves them too:-0 Great in the Las Vegas heat and so easy to dry, they do not ride up and no chaffing in the nether regions if you know what I mean? The price is a little on the higher side compared to other makes out there, but for what you get they are well worth it. I loved them so much I have thrown out my Calvin Kleins and replaced them with these undies.
Hi, guys. There is a question about size. I'm 177cm(5.8ft) tall, 65KG, and my waist is 83cm (between 32-33in). I should be fine with M according to patagonia sizing chart and my CK boxer is M too. However, I'm slim guy and I feel good in S with Icebreaker and Arcteryx long bottom underwear (not boxer etc.)
Should I stay S or go for M as sizing chart suggeted? I'm new to Patagonia product.
Sheng, Honestly I think you'd be happy with either size, it just depends how snug you want em. Sizing seems pretty versatile, I have both medium and large in these and don't dislike anything about either and both are comfortable. Hope that helps more than confuses...
I have two different pairs both of the same size and they dont fit the same. However I do prefer how they fit for hours of walking/running at a time. I've even worn these under cycling shorts ( I dont know why ) and was very happy with them. I like that they are light and have a small form-factor in your diddy/pack bags, much better then the REI MTS layers..
Alright, here is my dilemma. I got my cold weather skivvys down, but looking for some hot summer time ones. From walking around the city to hiking on the trails in the summer, will these work to help the counteract the swamp?
i bought a pare of North face boxer briefs. These ones blow them out of the water. the north face took forever to dry unlike these and i think that these are so much more comfortable
based on the size chart, i would wear a small (30" waist). But, at 6'1" i'm on the slightly tall side for that waist size and, when going strictly on waist size with other boxers, i have found the inseam to be too short. does anyone have a recommendation as to whether i should order small or medium?
I have used this pair of underwear for everything--working out, indoor soccer, skiing, day hiking, backpacking, running, and playing cello in a tuxedo (it gets hotter than you might think). In every situation and in every condition, these bad boys have kept me dry as a bone. Beautiful.
Because they're better. These are alright too. I don't believe the guy that said he wore them for a week and didn't have any odor issues, maybe I have bad smelling sweat. Then again it could have been the curry chicken I had the night before. LOL.
Ok, let's face it; while many think its simply gross many of us guys go commando. I have been f433b@11in for many years. Recently, however, I have been contemplating on getting me a pair of boxers like these. Since it seems after many reviews of various brands that these are the recommended best my only question is this...is it like cramming your three friends in a Honda CRX or a luxury Civic? Please, any quick advice on this would be greatly appreciated cuz I'd like to order some pretty soon for a thru hike. I can deal with returning insoles even, but I don't think I'd want to be on the recieving end of anyone's skivvy returns, lol!
Much less restrictive than any other boxer briefs I've tried (UA in particular) - they keep their shape, don't ride up, never feel clammy or sticky, and dry out quickly. They don't SEEM like they'd be that great, but I prefer them over anything else I've worn.
If you are worried about cramming the boys into something so tight you will need a can opener to use the bathroom, I would look to a model/brand that uses two different fabrics. Some brands use a more relaxed material around the family jewels so they are not so compressed. This gives you the best of both worlds, underwear that won't ride up and some room for the boys.
pricey, but effective. I have worn these from everything to weddings to trails + they keep you feeling cool + comfortable.
Although gross, upon purchasing my first pair I wore them 5 days straight as a pseudo-field test. They stood up great + after a sink wash they were ready to hit day 6 + beyond...
These are definitely the most comfortable boxers I have ever worn. They stay in place but have enough stretch to move with you. They do a great job of moisture and temperature regulation. Worth every penny.
They do great. I wouldn't expect them to smell washer-fresh after seven days, but they shouldn't reek to bad after a week. They are synthetic so they will start to gain critical bacterial mass after a while, but they are also anti-microbially treated to help out with that. They are super light and super-packable, so you could stash a spare pair to switch out to, or, since they dry incredibly fast, you could wash them out one night, hang them up under your shelter and be good to go by morning (which is what I do.) For synthetic underwear, these are still my favorite hiking and travel undershorts, bar-none.
well, my friend, I can say that these will smell. I used them on my Appalachian Trail thru-hike where I would go a week or two without washing my clothes. These were my camp boxers, so I didn't wear them while hiking, but after a while they start to smell. The great thing about them is they are incredibly easy to rinse out in a river -- and then you're golden!
I have not worn these in particular, but the 'new' Capiline (Cap 1, 2, 3) resists odor much better than the older stuff (silkweight, lightweight, midweight).
(sorry it's not a great answer, but i figured some info was better than none)
not the most comfortable but Patagonia is very consistent with its product. it works just as it is advertised, wicking, breathing, and quick drying. My only issue with it is that the material can be better. Overall, these briefs are made well and performs.
I thought there was no way I was going to like these more than my UnderArmour briefs, but I was wrong. Now I'm kind of peeved that I bought as much UA as I have. These are more comfortable than UA and don't stretch out as much during wear. They're cooler and not as restrictive. If any underwear can be called "great", these are the ones.
I bought 2 pairs of these 2 years ago right before studying abroad in Viet Nam. They are very very comfortable, breathable but noticeably thin. I was concerned about this when I initially bought them but decided to trust patagonia's reputation. This past fall I noticed holes have developed in the crotch due to normal wear. For this reason I would not buy these again. Yes it took a year and 1/2 for them to develop this wear but wore them at most 1 a week and my 3 for a dollar cotton boxer briefs that I have had for twice that time have yet to wear through. Come on patagonia I expected more for a $30 a pair premium!
The Patagonia Active Boxer Briefs are the best out there. A little expensive, work on the price and I will buy more (had gift certificate) but they are so comfortable and take care of wicking away / quick dry with respect to moisture. No more chaffing in those hot & sweaty situations! Good support, not too tight and super comfortable. Fit is true to size, so just use the size chart and you'll be all good! Roll back the price a bit and I will buy more !
I've tried wicking underwear from REI, Ex Officio, Mtn Hardwear, Smartwool, etc., and these are the best hands down. Great fit, lightweight, very breathable, dry super fast, control odor, do not bunch up while hiking, and top notch overall comfort.
The Patagonia Active Boxer Briefs are absolutely The Best. The fit is incredibly comfortable and ultra lightweight. This (Capilene 2?) is warm yet cool, soft and stretches with your moves. These are boxers that you'll wear year-rond. They are also just phenomenal for trail running. If you have Capilene 1 or Capilene silkweight boxers you know that these may be washed in a bathroom sink, hang to dry, and are ready to wear in a very short time. Unlike the Capilene boxers, these will not ride-up. There is no excessive fabric to bunch-up under your trousers. Bottom Line: hands-down the best. The search is over.
Love them, wear them all the time now! They may be pricey, but extremely comfortable, even on long-hikes or during highly active hobbies/sports/exercising. Absolutely fantastic!
Overall comfortable and don't smell even after several days use in sweaty conditions. The tendency to ride up a bit at times is the only negative aspect.
Well, I do wear clothes over them...occasionally. Seriously though, these are the only kind in my drawer, and I used to be a Brooks Bros. boxer man so you know I'm no fool. No bunching, never clammy in the summer or cold in winter, and the new Gladiodor finish is no joke. I have some un-treated ones from before and it makes a HUGE difference.
The Patagonia Active Boxer Briefs are awesome - much more comfortable and versatile than my standard Brooks Brothers Boxers. Good support, not too tight and super comfortable. Just came back to order two more pairs! Fit is true to size, so just use the size chart and you'll be all good!
comfy breathable skivvies for any activity whether it is outdoors or in you can't go wrong with Patagonia's cut and fit. also totally recyclable when your drawers become old!
To be honest, these are OK. I have tried just about every pair of non-cotton boxer brief on the market, and while these may come in third place, the Ex Officios and Under Armour BoxerJocks are both far superior to these in comfort and performance.
these fit well. but loosen up after a few hours of wearing. they are also very susceptible to body funk. i am a pretty clean dude when it comes to personal more...
