Description

Sweater looks—fleece feel.

You want the heat-trapping power of fleece, but you don’t want to look like a fuzzy bunny. The Men’s Patagonia 1/4-Zip Better Sweater has a sweater-knit exterior for a clean, sharp look and a fleecy, heat-holding interior. It is warm enough to wear as a jacket in cool weather, or (when things get really chilly) wear it under a shell as an insulating mid-layer. Raglan sleeves lend to the athletic aesthetic and keep you comfortable if you’re slinging a pack.

Better Sweater birthday

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 6' 2"
    Weight: 180 lbs
    Size Purchased: Large

We gave this to our brother for his birthday. Insta-hit! The fit is perfect, and he loves it. He's a complete Type A doctor, so if he likes something, it's no doubt pretty damned nice. We also gave a women's large Better Sweater to our 96-year-old father--he wears it everyday because everyday he's cold and it's the only thing that keeps him warm. The best part of that deal is that he doesn't know it's a women's size. The fit is perfect too. Kudos to Patagonia for another awesome piece of gear.

almost perfect

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Height: 5' 9"
    Weight: 155 lbs
    Size Purchased: Small

warm, tough, comfortable. the only gripe (minor as it may be) is it sits a little odd around the waist so I resemble a smaller grimace from mcdonalds

Best sweater I've ever owned!!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 9"
    Weight: 165 lbs
    Size Purchased: M

Bought this for a 500 mile backpacking trip through Spain, and took it as my only warm layer. I wore it every day and can't put into words how comfortable life was. Patagonia is a little pricey, but they ALWAYS win!

I absolutely loved the fleece, it has become my go to fleece for everyday outings. Size is true, and the quality is great.

Stay comfy....and classy ;)

Ummm, softest sweater on the planet? Possibly. I gifted this to my cousin Danny that lives in California for those cold, overcast Cali winter days. He basically just keeps saying "Love it, love it!". I've only ever purchased down jackets and sweaters by Patagonia and have always been satisfied, this sweater is no different. Cousin reports that it's super soft and comfy, and hey, it looks great on him. I assume that he'll wear it to many of his daughter's spring/fall soccer games to stay warm. Heck, I bet he'll even get some double takes as the other soccer dads gaze down sadly at their own sweaters as they realize that Danny's sweater is indeed better.

He's 6'0"185 lbs and a large fits perfectly.

Stay comfy....and classy ;)

I am about 5'10" and 150 pounds. My suit size is a 38, and waist is a 30. I usually wear a medium in most brands. Since this is a relaxed fit, should I go with a small or medium?
Just for reference, the Arc'teryx Atom LT hoody in medium fits me perfectly. When wearing that, I have room for a more closely fitted sweater (not a baggy sweatshirt).

Thanks!

Hey ks1911shoo428375,

Those are almost my exact dimensions. My waist is 32. I opt for medium in Patagonia and would suggest the same for you. It will give you enough room to layer underneath and it will not be so baggy tht you can also put a layer on top and be comfortable without a bulky feel.

What is center back length of a medium?

New cut is larger than prior year's

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large

This year's cut is larger than prior years. I have one in grey that I love, and ordered a second one in blue, but the fit is not the same. I would order one size down next time.

Comfy, classy, extremely warm. I live in Chicago and this shirt helped me survive the Polar Vortex. I have to wait for the train every morning, even on the -18 degree work days. I wore this shirt over my dress shirt nearly work day and it worked marvelously. It's held up pretty well too considering I wore it 5x a week for 3 months of Polar Vortex cold. I've wore this shirt over my dress shirt, without a jacket, and I was warm even in 20 degree weather. I mean, just to put gas in the car, I wouldn't go sledding or shovel snow with it w/o a jacket. Great shirt though. In fact, this site asked me to review this shirt and I realized I'm actually wearing it now!

I would wear it every day if I could...

This is one of my favorite pieces from Patagonia. I currently own two of them, orange and grey, and I am always tempted to buy more! They are uber warm, soft, and comfortable. Not to mention how great they look! It's no wonder other brands such as merrel and eddie bauer have been trying to copy it.

Im 6' and 220. Usually a L is a bit snug but looks good, XL is a better feel. Im a 36 pant and 44 jacket. What should I order? XL or L?

I'm 5'8" and about 155lbs. Just want to know what size would be the best fit for me.

Responded on

Small would be best for you. This piece is cut in a more relaxed manner then some other patagonia items and I think you would be dealing with lots of extra fabric on anything bigger then the small.

Great Durable Sweater

  • Gender: Male

I'm 5'10", 175lbs, athletic build, and ordered a medium. The length is perfect, fits in the arms well, and it slightly wide for my liking in the body. I wish it was tapered more in the body but this is understood considering it's an everyday sweater that comfortably fits over t-shirt/shirts/layers. The better sweater is fairly warm and I am comfortable wearing it as my warmest layer in ~35 degree weather. The best part about the better sweater is its versatility, I wear it very frequently in multiple settings.

Great product

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've owned this for over 3 years and have worn it A LOT. It's warm, comfortable, stylish, and can take a lot of wear and tear. Lately I've been wearing it in work settings and have been pleasantly surprised at how professional it looks. From my experience with this I've recently decided to buy a the dark grey version of the full zip and will replace my quarter zip when the time comes.

Better Sweater Forever

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It's seriously really warm. Too warm, actually. I paid for an amazing sweater but received a portable sauna

If you're curious about sizing, I'm about 5'9, 190lb and medium fits me perfectly
