Different components need different tools.
We've used the Park CT-3 Chain Tool for decades, and it's a shop essential. The beauty of Park's professional screw-type chain tools is that they last forever. The only maintenance or repair that they'll ever require is the occasional replacement of the drive pin. This Replacement Pin will fit the CT-1, CT-2, CT-3, CT-5, and CT-7 chain tools. For reference, the CT-3 has long been their professional model (with a black alloy handle and blue T-grip) and the CT-5 is the Mini Chain Brute.
The Park Chain Tool Replacement Pin screws directly into the drive mechanism of the tool. Park recommends that you install a new pin with blue Loctite to keep it secure. Once installed, a new pin will give you a long service life and prevent damage to the outer plates on your chain.

- Q & A
The new spare replaces the brizzoked in about 10 seconds!
You've Been Spared
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I wish these came in the old 3 or even 5 piece packs. Ahh well, 2 is fine I suppose. These work great, until you've got that one pin that doesn't want to move. Bend and snap, it's time to replace. If you use your Shimano/Sram "connector" pin when putting a chain back together, you'll cut down on your CT pin snappage.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
As someone who removed nearly a hundred rusted chains this year, I would highly recommend some spares for when a chain is stubborn or your grip isn't quite right. Easy to replace with vice grips, though a small wrench fitting of some sort would be nice.
Does its Job
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This pin replaced the messed up one on my park tool exactly like it was supposed to. I was also pleasantly surprised to see it came with blue loctite already applied because my original pin didn't and it came loose without me noticing and that's how I bent it and needed to replace it in the first place.
