Description

Bike in the rain—or even walk through a hurricane—and keep your stuff from getting soggy with P.O.E.'s Vancouver Bag.

If you commute through rain or shine, you might want to invest in a truly waterproof messenger bag like the Pacific Outdoor Equipment Vancouver Bag. Welded zippers and waterproof fabric keep out moisture even in a serious downpour. Aside from keeping your items completely dry, the Vancouver sling bag keeps them organized. The interior houses three vertical pockets and a zippered mesh pouch, and the main compartment is big enough for a jacket, a change of clothes, and a bag lunch. The flap features a zippered pocket with a full organizer for you pens, cards, cell-phone, and other digi-widgets.

Alright

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Generally a nice bag. The only issues I'd like to see improved would be improving the main zipper (somewhat difficult to manage esp going around the contour "corners"), including some sort of stash/mesh pocket solution on the outside for quickly stashing some gear or bottle and durability (though rarely -- and lovingly! -- used to date, there are already some white "scuffs" on the brown material that actually appear to be damage to the material as we can't remove. Oh, and it's a bit larger than expected so take that for what it's worth but you can definitely fit a BIG laptop in this monster!

Great bag

I've been using mine for daily commuting on motorcycle and water proofness was great in the NZ winters. The main compartment zipper now has a tooth or two out of place which means it no longer closes. Maybe this is acceptable after 1 year of constant use but a shame to have a bag in otherwise great condition no longer useful on the bike.

DRY DRY DRY

Very nice bag - perfect for rainy winters in Seattle. I can carry my laptop, with files and binders without any concern of any of it getting wet. Quality built and comfortable. There is an additional waist strap for those bike commuters to keep it over your shoulder while you ride.

While it works for a laptop bag, they didn't provide any support or cushioning for it like other laptop bags. This would have been a nice addition.

Good bag

I have been using this bag for a couple of months now. I use it to lug around papers, a digital camera, a laptop occasionally, and loose ends. I like the way it is built... very sturdy. I like the materials, waterproof/resistant, and as I work in healthcare, I can wipe it down with anti-nasty wipes. Good number of pockets. Cons: it doesn't really have any expansion capability, so while it is big, you can't make it adjustably bigger. It looks like you're ready to paddle down a river, rather attend a professional meeting.

Does anyone know if this bag would work as laptop bag, and, if so, is it large enough for 17" laptop (hefty 17" alienware, thicker than a 17" mac)? Thank you!!!

Responded on

Yes, it will work. I currently use it for my 15" laptop and there is room to spare. Looking at it, I do believe a 17" would also work. Be aware though, they have not provided padding and such to protect the laptop. If you drop your bag on the floor, the laptop will not survive it. You just need to be careful.
