The Pacific Outdoor Equipment InsulMat Hyper-Lite Sleeping Pad combines the light weight and high thermal values of closed-cell foam with the comfort of open-cell, self-inflating mats. This crazy hybrid combination forms a molded closed-cell foam body that encases self-inflating shoulder and hip areas. This means you get nougats of comfy cushioning where you need it most and insulating closed-cell foam throughout this entire three-season pad. The Hyper-Lite's valve placement is a result of P.O.E.'s meticulous testing. Since placing the valve at an angle proved uncomfortable when campers rolled over, P.O.E. relocated it to the head where it's out of the way and works much smoother with the open-cell insert.

Bottom Line: The Pacific Outdoor Equipment Insulmat Hyperlite Sleeping Pad—a patent-worthy level of comfort, support, and insulation.

Then blow in it. If it doesn't hold air, you have a different problem and should send it back.

Thermarest vs. InsulMat

By:
September 14, 2007

I bought this one, and a women's one because they are lighter than thermarest pads. The only good thing about them in my opinion was that they were lighter, like a feather! They didn't pack down as small as I had hoped, I was hoping I could fold it in half and roll it, but it made it huge because of the foam. They are neat becasue the blow up part is only where you need it to be. I still found my thermarest more comfortable as well. If you're looking for weight, get this one, if you're looking to save space, get a thermarest!
