The Pacific Outdoor Equipment Ether Thermo 6 Women's Sleeping Pad achieves the desirable balance between light weight and insulation. This mat offers comfortable sleep for three seasons of camping and extra warmth for women's generally colder feet. The Ether Thermo 6 uses Air-loft Thermo cushioning, which consists of non-shifting insulated tubes, to maximize thermal value and packability. For this women's mat, P.O.E doubled the insulation in the foot area. The Ether 6's tapered shape fits nicely with your mummy sleeping bag and does away with unnecessary ounces.

Bottom Line: The Pacific Outdoor Equipment Ether Thermo 6 Sleeping Pad provides packable warmth and support for three seasons, plus a little extra love for your feet.

My wife likes it!

I bought this pad for my wife, and she likes it a lot. She said it sleeps comfertably, and it kept her worm in zero degree snow camping with a closed cell foam pad under it. What else do you want from a sleeping pad?

I made a boo boo in my earlier review, I stated it was 2 inches... it is not. It is also 2.5 inches thick; however, it just doesn't feel the as "lofty" as my other one despite the same manufacturers stated thickness. Sorry for the misinformation.

Backpacker Tracker, I'd like to understand more about your

Backpacker Tracker, I'd like to understand more about your exerience with this pad. (Incidentally the specs list this pad as being 2.5" thick, not 2" as you wrote in your article.) With the pad's humongous R-value I cannot understand why you would be so cold with this pad. I would also like to hear specifically why you think the Big Agnes pad was better for you. FYI: there is another version of this pad. It is touted as being eco-friendly and the insulation is made out of bamboo instead of synthetic material. Unfortunately it costs roughly twice as much as this pad. Dunno if the bamboo is more or less comfortable than the synthetic insulation.

BackpackTracker I understand some of what you are saying relative to a difference in comfort between the two styles, but they should be relatively the same because when you put the two side by side, they are almost the same pad. On the note of being cold when sleeping, well there is a lot more going on then the temperature in your tent. In order to create the same circumstances is hard and more than a single test is necessary. The simple difference between sleeping with or with out a hat can feel like a 15 degree difference in temperatures. The entire sleep system needs to be looked at; pad tent and bag yes, but also, how much you ate before sleeping, hat or no hat, how hard did you work that day, hot water bottle?, and the clothes that you where while sleeping. All of those things apply. The pad only provides comfort and padding from sleeping on the ground and insulation from the grounds temperature. There might be some other areas of the sleep system that you need to analyze before chalking it up to the pad.

Great Product

I have had this product for about 3 year and i love it, it packs down really well i usually just fold it down to like a A3 shheet of paper and weights nothing. I have taken this product on two snow camps and i was still really happy with. Handy tip is not to over inflate and that way you will have a perfect night sleep.

Sadly disappointed

First, I have to start off with having had high expectations for the women's version of this sleep pad. I researched them all, and found for the weight (looking for a light one to pack on my back) and the big key of more insulation in the feet, I was seriously impressed with finding out about this product.
I shopped around for the best price, got it, and we off went to go backpacking. It was late January, early February so it was a bit cold out in the desert at night. But I was feeling pretty confident that it would keep me warmer and definitely more comfortable than the Big Agnes one I have since this one is specific for women. Well, I wanted my feet warmer than the last time and this was supposed to be the answer! Hmmm, nope. Hate to say it, but I was not a happy camper, no pun intended!

I could not tell a difference in the insulation and it is 2" thick, or should I say thin, compared to the Big Agnes having 2.5" with about the same weight. The temp inside our tent on both times was within tenths of degrees so I feel confident in my overview and the 1/2 inch of height to me made a big difference. Mind you, while I am short, I am not a petite size 2 and I woke up stiff in my low back (never had that with my Big Agnes)... so while I am sure there are women that will love this, I cannot say I did.

I am pushing 40 and my back can't take me sleeping on the "floor", and this one seemed either too full and I was rolling off the top, or too thin with no support. Then of course, I didn't feel the special added feet insulation in this one as I had hoped and this was even with a blue thin pad underneath it all to help with the cold!

Guess this will be one that our kids with strong backs and nimble, limber youth will have to use in the warmer months. But the concept of it sounds great... I just want my Big Agnes insulated pad back. Hope this helps you and happy sleeping !
