This straps fall off

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The holes on the leather straps stretch out which makes the straps fall off the little hooks. This makes the purse fall off. It is getting worse and worse. The front flap is magnetic, but if you put anything more that chapstick in the front the flap does not hit the magnets so it sits opens so things fall out easily.

really wanted to love this purse...

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have another Overland purse and love it, but I wanted something a little larger. The Bidwell was the perfect size, I loved the colors (I got the dove/mist blue), and the leather strap was different and cute. The first surprise was the shortage of pockets and compartments (my smaller Overland has a ton). The main part of the purse is one huge compartment with a skinny divider (I put keys in the smaller side). The large pocket is very deep and has side bungees that can fit a water bottle or travel umbrella, but smaller items are impossible to find. There is an external skinny pocket, but because it cannot be secured closed I never really used it - only used occasionally for receipts. There is a nice small compartment with magnetic closure where I could put my phone (fuzzy pocket!), and a zippered mesh pocket for things you want to get to readily. The big reason why I do not recommend this purse is the leather strap and the way it is secured to the purse. There are small metal rivets that secure to punched holes in the leather strap. You can adjust the length by using different holes along the strap. The problem is the rivets are just as big as the holes in the leather, and with use the leather gets softer and the holes get stretched out. After ~3 months of use the strap comes off the purse every time I set it down! There have been many times when I am walking somewhere and the purse will just unexpectedly fall off my shoulder to the ground because the strap had become undone. If you plan to use this for travel, this is a BIG PROBLEM! Someone could grab the strap and it will simply become undone. I had planned to return because it is basically unusable now, but I missed the deadline. I plan to try to sew the strap to the purse - this seems to be the only way to keep it where it should be.

Will do for travel

  • Gender: Female

I purchased this bag for a trip abroad with my 1-year old. While all of her gear will be in a backpack, I wanted something that can hold my personal items and a couple of her essentials (one bottle, a diaper, one or two toys) without getting bulky.
I have to say, in that sense the bag exceeded my expectations. I love the two hidden water bottle pockets (one for baby, one for mommy), the front organizational pocket, which REALLY holds everything and keeps it ORGANIZED, and the top zip design, which allows for very quick access to the main compartment.
What I do not like about the bag, is the overall look, and how it sits on my shoulders. The leather strap that it comes with is a single layer leather exposing the raw side on the bottom, which looks like it will stretch and will have to be replaced very soon. It also makes it very cheap looking.
The bag itself is OK, nothing to rave about, but it does not scream TOURIST (which is a plus) and it looks like it will be easy to keep it clean (which is another plus).
So far I only wore the bag over a jacket, and it kept sliding down my shoulder, but I am hoping that in the summer with only a t-shirt on, it will stay more secure. There is also the cross body option, but with a backpack on my back, I am less likely to wear it like that.

Great Bag for Biking

I just got this purse for the summer as I needed something that would fit my bulky U-lock. The adjustable strap lets you wear it cross-body or just on one shoulder which is also pretty nice. I would say it is the perfect size for biking around town since you can fit all the necessities but it really isn't a large bag.
