The Men's Stretch Zion Short from prAna wants to climb, hike, and play all summer long. A little bit of stretch makes these tough shorts follow your every move. Cargo pockets hold onto your stuff to let you keep your hands free for buildering or hitchhiking back to camp. A fast drying and breathable cotton blend is comfortable enough to wear from Alabama to Zion.
These shorts rock! They're my go to short for warm days camping, climbing or just hanging out. The have held up super well and I know that they'll serve my well for years to come. I really like the zip back pocket so I know my funds won't end up at the bottom of the mountain.
This is the best pair of shorts I own as well. Great for whatever you're doing. Hiking, climbing, riding or kickin it at the park with the kiddos. These things are really wicked comfortable!
I have a 33-34 waist myself and I wear the large. If strength training or biking has given you some musculature below the waist (pause for snickers) and you like a looser fit, you might want to consider the large as well. I'm just under 6' and the shorts hang to just past my kneecap. I have to tighten the waist until it bunches, but the result is a really good fit in the seat, and my boys dont get cramped up (especially when sitting). Best solution - order both sizes and send one back ... $6 shipping a small price to pay for a good fit!
These shorts are awesome! They're perfect for biking, hiking, running, swimming (though they don't have a liner)... The zippered pockets are convenient (glad there's no velcro) and they look good. You can basically do any of the activities above and still go for a bite and a beer without looking like a frocio. I bought the pants and a pair of shorts for my dad.
These shorts are fantastic, great for climbing, swimming, hiking, and all-around outdoor play. They stretch to your movements, dry quickly, and look pretty sharp. I would say that the 2006 model was much better than the current one. The snap closure, and velcro fly was much sleeker when it came to answering the call of nature without taking off the harness. Also, the "belt" feature in this model bunches something fierce, and looks awkward. It also shrinks a tad in the wash, but all in all I LOVE these shorts.
A shot of me hiking the Strech Zion shorts. These shorts are great for hiking and high energy activities. I love the mesh pockets, the sand and dirt just sifts right out of them.
Most money I've ever spent on a pair of shorts, but the best value I've ever gotten. They are the only pair of shorts I'll wear hiking now - they move freely, stay cool, and dry fast if you happen to end up in a lake. I didn't buy them for trail running, but they are now my favorite shorts for that too. I can put a few bars in the pockets along with a map and a compass and still not notice the weight/shorts when running.
All that when I bought them for climbing! (which they also work great for)
I bought these for my husband for climbing. He obviously loves them because he wears them all the time. He wears them climbing and mountain biking. They are stretchy enough to move with you. He also wears them out for casual wear. Thats the great thing about clothes like this, you can go straight from the trail out to eat or whatever you need to do.
check back often. You never know when something will be re-stocked.Also, you can jump on "live chat" and ask those folks. They can tell you if there are any more on order and if so they can give you a rough estimate for an arrival date.
These are the type of shorts that you end up wearing everyday for every task from bouldering to jumping in the Virgin river to bumming around town. They are light and cool in the desert (took'em to Zion, Grand Canyon, and Jackson) and are durable on climbing surfaces. It would be nice if the pockets were anchored, but I can live with that.
These are definitely my new favorite pair of shorts. I've got some "athletic" thighs which makes finding hiking or climbing shorts that fit both my waist and thighs a challenge. These shorts have a roomy cut through the thigh, especially compared to some TNF shorts I tried on at the same time. I'm sure the extra stretch that these shorts have helps too. Hiking or climbing, these shorts are fantastic. The built in waistbelt works pretty well, the zippered cargo pockets mean I'm not going to lose my stuff if I take a nasty fall, the casual style and 12" inseam means you'll still look normal wondering around town when your adventure ends. If you're looking for a comfy pair of technical shorts that you can wear around town too, the Zion's are for you.
A bit pricey but they're awesome. Have used them for climbing, hiking, canyoneering, travel (wash up fine in a sink and dry quick on a clothesline) and around town on the weekend. Excel at all. Best shorts I've ever owned, so I got a second pair in another color.
Picked these up a couple weeks ago and have worn them pretty much everywhere. Biking, hiking, skateboarding, hanging at the beach, hanging at home...everywhere. I really like the length, stretchiness, and durability.
So far I've used these shorts for a week long climbing trip in North Carolina. They performed admirably! I actually didn't even think about them or notice them for the entire week, which is of course the ideal situation for any piece of clothing. They are also great looking, don't look like usual hiking/climbing shorts, and will be used regularly as a pair of casual shorts.
Very true to size. I wear a 36, and the XL fits me perfectly-not just in the waist, but also the room in the thighs.I agree, I wear a 36 also, and they fit perfect. A few of TNF products I own seem a little small, but not these
These are the most comfy shorts I have. They will make the CDT hike in August with flying colors. They stretch well with movement and don't look like spandex.
Best shorts I've owned. Comfortable, sturdy, and they just look good. They dry quickly after a long day of hiking in the heat, plenty of pocket space, length is perfect--reach just above the knees on me.
These look good ,feel good, and are great for activity, cycling etc. Sizing a slight problem. I normally use medium but these in med. were too large so I exchanged for a small. (31 waist) Ever so tight around my but but ok in leg and waist. One other complaind is the pockets aren't secured internally so when you pull stuff out the pocket always everts out and must be stuffed back each time. I'll sew the tip of the pocket internally to fix this. Graded a solid B to B+ product
I was initially a bit hesitant due to the price, but this is by far the most comfortable pair of shorts I own. The slight stretch in the material is perfect, and they are very lightweight and breathable. I just wish they made more colors now so I could get some more.
I keep buying the stretch zion pants and shorts. The material keeps getting better, more durable, less likely to pill or tear. The shorts are lightweight and dry quickly. I wear them all the time. I liked last year's model better, especially the snap buckle. This year's adjustable system is not as easy to use. I also thought last year's model looked better (more "technical" less "casual").
I own two pairs now, great for mountain biking. I like last years buckle better than this years button. Still a great short for any outdoor activity, or even casual.
I love my zions pants that I've owned for a little over two years so I figure the shorts would be a great buy. They are the same great fit the only differents is the back pocket doesn't zip closed like the pants. Great quality that will last for years.
I bought these for a Zion National Park trip and was amazed. Before I was using a pair of board shorts but these blew my mind. They are super comfy and give excellent leg movement and range when scrambling, rappelling and climbing. They dry really quick when swimming potholes in the slot canyons. Also they are lightweight and feel thin for heat reduction but they still are really durable (Which is necessary when sliding across sandstone and things in the desert. Would definitely buy again. Maybe I'll get another pair.
There are pricey but a good buy. They are very durable. The belt is a little dinky, but it still functions well. I would buy these again. I got the earth collor and it looks more like khaki.
Cant find another pair of these shorts..I wanted to order a second pair as soon as I tried them on. True to size...flexible fabric material allows superior comfort during wide variety of activities.
I borrowed a pair of these shorts from my brother in law while on vacation and fell in love with em. I used them for some golfing that day and kayaking the next. They do tend to run on the big side. I didn't check the label and ordered a large and found out I must have been wearing a medium. I'm 6"2 with a slim build. I usually wear a 34 waist. The mediums are perfect. I loved the material, which has a little stretch but isn't too thin. Just right for quick drying but with some structure. These shorts seem to be great for just about anything from not getting thrown off the golf course to trying not to get thrown out of the boat!
I bought one pair just to try them out - I've purchased two more since then. Great for climbing, hiking, and even just relaxing. Every other pair of shorts I own...with the exception of a pair of Mountain Hardwear that I like a lot...has gone to the thrift store - these are all you need!
My husband loves this short. He wants to wear it to the climbing gym due to its stretching ability, but they are nice enough to wear for summer dress- up, too!
These shorts rock. Light yet rugged. Fit well, yet they permit huge flexibility. You could do the splits in these if you were so inclined. Good for many applications - hiking, biking, climbing, or just wearing them 'cause they're cool. I Like!
