Yakima Sky Box

Store your stuff in sleek style when you load up the Yakima Sky Box. This futuristic roof box features a 50% stiffer lid for less vibration, and an aerodynamic design to reduce drag and wind noise and up your fuel efficiency. Yakima’s Super Latch Security system ensures a solid closure, and the box fits on crossbar spreads as short as 24 inches. The quick-installation hardware makes it easy to pull on and off between trips, and the box opens from either side so you don’t have to run around the car to get in.

Bottom Line: Put your cargo in the Sky Box, and save precious car space.

I have a 2003 Toyota 4Runner and am trying to decide between the Yakima Sky Box 16 vs. the 18. I assume you burn more gas with the 18, but my main concern is whether there is enough room on top of my 4Runner for the 18.

I just purchased the Sky Box 18 for my 2006 Highlander Limited. It fits fine and doesn't interfere with the back hatch. I don't think you'll notice much difference on the drag between the two.

Yeah for sure. This box is still only 36" in the 18. Definitely not as wide as your 4Runner, but will take up most of your roof space.

Best box in the business

I bought the Skybox 12 in fall 2008 & mounted it on my Subaru Forester. I love this thing so much. There is plenty of space in the 12 for 2 snowboards, 1 pair of skis, 3 sets of ski poles & other random stuff like shovels.

One of the things that hooked me on the Yakima was the fact that you could mount it on either side. I have mine mounted as close to the driver side as possible. Works great.

The locks & latch system are simple to use. The box lid stays in the up position when loading/unloading. Doesn't seem to hurt gas mileage too too much. Quiet on the road too.

All in all a fantastic product. Money well spent. Go for it
