Yakima Landing Pad

Yakima Landing Pads work in conjunction with Control Towers (our item no.: YAK0079) as a quick ‘n' easy-to-install rack. Landing Pads (LP) fit a broad range of factory tracks, and can also be applied directly to the vehicle roof with plusnut hardware. [For those already familiar with Yakima products, LP 1, 2, and 3's will fit the same vehicles as Locking RailRider 1, 2, and 3's.] LP4's fit Chrysler and Dodge Minivans, LP5 Isuzu Axiom, and LP6 camper shells. **SOLD IN SETS OF 2.

Flawed Yakima Landing Pad

I've been using Yakima products for a long time and never had a complaint. The landing pads for my car (#11) are terrible design. When they are attached and tightened with the screw the opening that accepts the control towers closes in and prevents the towers to slip in. Tech. support sent me to a local dealer for assistance and the only way they could fit the towers was to file away the sides of the landing pads to widen the opening. If one has to do this it is clear that the product is faulty.

The Control Tower system is great. Easy on/off and secure. These landing pads let you positively secure you towers on the roof.

Used the Landing Pads on my Element and although it seems OK I'm a little unsure; the pads wiggle a little and don't seem to be affixed to the truck as tightly as I would like them to be. Kudos to Backcountry.com though - great site with REALLY fast shipping and lower prices than any other site or store!
