No Description for Mighty Mounts

Many options for the horizontal mounts. It would be nice if there is a description for each rather than just numbers, which mean absolutely nothing to someone.

Hey Julie, according to Yaks fit guide you could roll with a couple of set ups. This set of 4 will def. work with fac. rack, but Yakima is saying that your ski rack should not need extra accessories . Just need to double check with what style rack you have for your skis to see if they match up. This setup seems to be a single bolt thru the clip. The Fat Cats and Powderhounds should have the setup on it already.

I'm trying to figure out which Mighty Mount (horizontal)

I'm trying to figure out which Mighty Mount (horizontal) is the right size for my 2006 Mercedes R350. I'm ready to buy a set of factory racks built for this car and it looks like one the horizontals will fit. The universal looks like a real clunker and would like to avoid it if I can find out which horizontal fits this rack.

If you configure a rack with the link at the top of the page, the Mighty Mount does not come up, because your car doesn't have a factory rack option.

Yakima does not make a specific mighty mount for the Thule bars, but they do make a universal mighty mount that likely will what you want. Check these out.

Not that easy

Yeah just barely got done putting these on. They take a lot more effort than you would expect. I need to use extra tools, huge pair of vice grips and a screwdriver to line up the holes, and a tape measure, now that they are on they work fabulously but I don’t think I’ll be taking them off.

I have a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan with factory installed racks. The bars are 2.5 inches depth. What mighty mounts will fit my van. All I can come up with is the complete package and I have the bike racks, but just need the mount hardware for the new rack.

The bike racks typically only mount onto round or square crossbars, not the factory 'aero' crossbar. There are a couple of upright racks from Yakima that will allow the Horizontal Mighty Mount, but you won't find any fork mount roof racks that work with that. Thule doesn't make any racks like that either.Dodge does put out some rack products under their accessories, you can inquire at your local dealer about that.

easy removal for less wind drag

By: Backcountry.com Employee
July 5, 2007

i've had this type of mighty mounts for 3 different cars now (they were all outback sports, but different years have slightly different sized bars) and for two different bike racks (an older one similar to the raptor and the new king cobra). Using them with the king cobra has been great. Really easy to attach to the cross bars and equally as easy to attach the bike rack. I used to leave my bike rack on ALL the time, but this set up is easy enough to remove that i can take it off or put it up in about five to ten minutes for non-bike-related road trips when i want less wind drag.

I need a set of 24H Yakima Mighty Mounts to fit a 2006 Soobie with a factory roof rack. Advise if these will work, or if you have the 24H in stock and at what price.

Use Yakima's 'Rack My Car' list to determine exactly what you need.http://yakima.com/Consumer/Step1.aspxThe Horizontal Mighty Mounts do a lot, but they still don't cut it for putting my bike racks on. I simply re-did all of my Subaru factory racks with new towers, crossbars, and the whole works. I especially like the fact that everything is locked down with SKS cores, just another thing that keeps my gear from getting lifted.
