Really limited use and inconvenient

I have the Hitch ski Twin tip skis don't fit well at all, same with snowboards. Once the stuff is in there the carrier work fine but be prepared to spend some time getting things in the rack.

Easy and Practical

This is a great way to carry your snow gear and keep your edges from gouging your vehicle interior. It's easy to mount to your bike rack and the locks keep your stuff secure. I used a gun lock to attach the snow rack to the bike rack - you'll want something or it would be easy to lift the snow rack right off the bike rack. It can be a little tricky to get a snowboard in facing the inside, depending on your binding mount. Wet road spray is a bit annoying and covers your gear. Overall I'm pleased with the performance and ease of use and would recommend.

To all that have reviewed, were you using the older style model

To all that have reviewed, were you using the older style model (square shaped) or the new model (slightly trapezoid like)? It looks great. However, if I can't use it to store 4 snowboards, I'm not interested.

I was probably reviewing the older model because mine is square. I looked at some pictures of the new model and it shows a pair of twin-tip skis mounted on it stacked, which I can't do. The description says "2 position upper arms, adjustable lower arm". So I guess depending on the adjustability of the lower arm you may be able mount ski back to back, but unless the lower arm is actually hinged there it is unlikely you will get two snowboard back to back in there. I have mounted four snowboards before but it required I dissassemble the lower arm to get them mounted in, it was a pain in the butt and I won't do it again.Has anyone gotten this to work?

yakima ski hitch saddle

The locking down of the hitch is inadaquate. add another $70 for locks alone.
The hitchski works great otherwise.

I drive a Jeep TJ, it has a bike rack that bolts onto the spare

I drive a Jeep TJ, it has a bike rack that bolts onto the spare tire, no trailer hitch. It works great for my bikes which I use all year round but would also like to have a rack for my ski;s/boards. I heard you can add or switch it up for your needs. Can you please make sugestions. Thank you Lorna

Not Good

You are lucky if you can fit 3 or 4 pairs of skis on this rack. Unless you are using skis from before 1991 you cannot fit 6 pairs of skis on here. On top of that, most pairs of skis are too thick for the mechanism to be shut over your skis and hold them stable on the rack. The bottom rack doesn't even open so good luck wedging a twin tip in there. This rack would have been decent 15 years ago, but now there are much better items. Just get a rack for the top of your car.
