Yakima Fork Lift Bike Carrier

The Fork Lift Bike Carrier represents Yakima’s first ever direct-to-factory-crossbar fork mount bike rack. Easy to install and compatible with almost any fork with disc-brakes, the Fork Lift comes ready to work. The sleek design sits low on your factory rack and looks hot on top of your whip. Yakima’s SKS lock cores (sold separately) let you rest easy knowing you won’t get bike-jacked. The easy to adjust sliding tray makes positioning the rear wheel a breeze, and the integrated adjustment knobs allow for one-handed access.

Bottom Line: The Fork Lift gives new meaning to the phrase “Nice rack.”

2 on Outback Factory rack

By:
October 25, 2009

Been using 2 of these for the whole summer in Jackson Hole. Both are on the factory rack of my 05 outback. I was nervous when i bought em that two bike racks wouldn't work on the factory rack, but they work fine, w bikes of all size.
Did one longer drive, about 4 hours to sun valley. Got going pretty fast at points and the bikes were fine.
I read it was easy to put these on and it wasn't a lie - I was surprised to be done as fast as I was.
If you don't want to change out your factory rack this is the bike rack for you!

A good choice for 2009 Impreza

By:
October 20, 2009

Like another reviewer here, it works well so far on the factory roof bars of my 2009 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport - even though Yakima has yet to list it. And it does not interfere with the hatchback. Holds bike firmly, easy to use and easy on the eyes. I bought the SKS lock cores to go with it, and normally put a brightly colored cable lock through the crossbars, frame and rear wheel as an added visual deterrent.

Only con so far is that when empty, it does generates some wind noise at higher speeds, not the whistling or annoying kind, but you know it's there. Never had any other type of roof rack, so nothing to compare it too.

just wanted to confirm, it will work with Yakima round bars as

just wanted to confirm, it will work with Yakima round bars as well? We have a 2010 Toyota RAV4 with the factory crossbars but also want to be able to use this on our other car which has the Yakima round bars. I think it will work, but just wanted to confirmed with anyone else that has the same hybrid situation (one vehicle w/factory crossbars & one vehicle with yakima round bars). thx!

Definitely works for round and most factory bars. Totally understandable that you want to check first. Enjoy.

Fits well on factory racks

By:
April 20, 2009

It fits very well on my 2009 Impreza factory rack.
Very little wiggle, and more solid than the upright fork systems that I'm just not a big fan of.
Easy to use, and lockable.
The only thing I'm not a big fan of is the rear sliding tray moves too easily (as in it slides back and forth when driving without a bike) and would be easy to steal, if anyone was so inclined.

The head is a bit bulky and the fit isn't as firm as my Steelhead mount on my Yakima round cross bars, but this is the price paid for versatility. Installation was simple. It holds my bike with disc brakes and if I buy a new car with a factory rack, I'm confident that it will fit.

Yakima Fork Lift

By:
April 20, 2009

We needed a bike carrier for to fit all of the factory racks on each vehicle we have.
I did not want to buy any additional crossbars or racks to mount a bike carrier.
This tray/carrier fit our Nissan Xterra and our Outbacks perfectly.
Great carrier, don't forget to add a lock for the fork clamp.

Perfect fit

By:
July 29, 2009

Perfect fit for my 2004 Ford Escape. Quick and easy to install too. I did it on my lunch hour at work with plenty of time to spare.

I was a bit nervous since the first use was for a 700 miles trip, but it worked perfectly to hold my Trek Hybrid bike (with disc brakes) safely up on the roof. Could not tell, from within the car, that the bike was up there (no wind noise, vibration, etc).

Getting the bike up on the roof is less funny (the Escape is pretty tall) but it's not related to the product.

Very happy with my purchase, and awesome experience with backcountry.com so far.

Highly recommended.
