Wilderness Systems Ripper Sit On Top Kayak

When the surf's up, throw the Wilderness Systems Ripper Sit-On-Top Kayak on top of your car and head to the beach. This kayak's rockered hull loves the waves, while the skeg gives you enough tracking to paddle straight on calm days. I'm new at kayaking and I'm thinking of buying one.

I'm new at kayaking and I'm thinking of buying one. I like lakes alot and like the idea of the 'sit on top' style so I can just drop into the water for a swim and get out of easily. Seems much easier to do with this style then a typical fresh water kayak.
Any thoughts?

Tell me more about the skeg - does it raise and lower or is it a permanent part of the under side of the kayak's contour? Is the back rest part of the kayak or something extra?
