Wilderness Systems Ride 135 Sit on Top Kayak

You want a stable kayak, but not one that handles like a barge. The altered pontoon-style hull design of the Wilderness Systems Ride 135 Sit-on-Top Kayak provides a stable ride with total control, so you can zip around your favorite honey hole or just cruise the lake. TriggerLock foot braces adjust to the right length for your legs, and an adjustable, padded back rest adds comfort to the molded seat. Stern decking bungees hold your rod and extra gear as you paddle, and the front hatch gives you sealed storage for your dry clothes or lunch. Strap your tank and other fishing accessories in the back well and stealthily make your way toward big-lunker territory. There’s even a small tackle box behind the seat to keep you ready for action.

Bottom Line: Casting stability and speedy maneuverability.

Fishing boats have an excellent blend of stability (so your hands can be free to fish) and agility (so you can wiggle into some tight spots). The Ride 135 will easily accommodate someone of your size. Have fun!

Great product.

This is a great kayak for lake cruising. It is so comfortable and stable and really takes the boat wakes very well. Easy mount and dismount. It is a little sluggish in the water, a trade off for the more stable pontoon-like bottom but if you are not buying it for racing then you will not be disappointed. A great style for beginners to moderates and people who just want to relax and have fun. Probably not the best for people most concerned about speed and efficiency.

It sure is, hence all of the sweet features that a fisherman would be stoked on. Rod holders, tackle box, etc. Get one and go bang some dinner!

Big but fun

By:
July 6, 2009

I just went out on my new Ride 135 yesterday. My Girlfriend has an 8' kayak and thought that my much larger boat was going to be too big to be any fun. We went to a local reservoir and on more than one occasion, I paddled into and right back out of small spaces with no problem at all.

This boat tracks very straight due to the design of the hull. Her boat has only a small rudder on the back and she had much more trouble than I staying on course when the wind picked up a bit. I had no trouble at all and had to avoid her drifting into me on more than one occasion.

I also have a dog who will be joining us on future trips and this boat has plenty of room for her in the back.

My only downside is that some of my gear got wet late in the day when water leaked into the interior. This may have simply been a case of me not making sure that the drain plug was secure... I will know for sure after our next outting. Also, you need a full car rack to carry this boat. Because of the hull design, it does not fit well with the foam kayak carrier systems and I scratched the roof of my crossover.

All-in-all, I am very happy with this boat. It is sturdy and versitile and would recommend it to anyone that asks.

I'm 6'7" Will I fit? Every "sit in" kayak

I'm 6'7" Will I fit? Every "sit in" kayak I ever tried I had to put my feet past the pegs and jam them against sides of kayak. Very uncomfortable. How wet do you get riding one of these? April in New England water is still pretty cold.

I just bought a used ride 135. It's been stored in the weather.

I just bought a used ride 135. It's been stored in the weather. Any sugestions on restoration and maintanance. It seems sound. Also I have a dog that goes everywhere with me. Any sugestions on getting her use to going with me on the boat. Also I am missing a step for my feet. Can I order one, and how.

You can probably order a step from the wilderness website. It's a very good boat, should hold up well in the weather. As far as the dog, just do like I do with my psycho yellow lab, throw him in but stay in the 4-6 foot range, and don't take him out without throwing a life jacket on him first. Someone did that hear and their dog was found a mile off shore, barely able to stay afloat because he was tired, the lifejacket could save his life until someone finds him.
