Wild Country Tech Friends Full Cam Set

Wild Country Tech Friends' clean, simple, and functional design makes them easy to place, easy to clean, and solid in their placements when you lob from 20 feet above. Color-coded lobes allow for quick selection of the right size when Elvis leg sets in and the pump clock starts to tick fast. Wild Country added Dyneema slings to the Tech Friends to lighten your load on long endurance pitches.

Bottom Line: Whether you need to sew up a finger crack or protect a nasty seven-inch offwidth, you can count on Wild Country Tech Friends.

Bomber cams. Easy to place and hold for ever. work well with cold fingers too. My son took a lead fall on a size 1. He had to place blind and in a hurry. great cams. Color coded and came with biners on every cam. great deal on a great product.

WC Tech friends set

Tech friends are a very good compromise between all the components one has to take into account when you buy cams: price, range, weight, color coding, polyvalence (types of rocks, types of cracks), and so on... This set is not the cheapest, but not the most pricy either, and I find their camming system very smooth and efficient. Holds very well, and easy to place.
I really like it!

I am looking in to buying a whole trad climbing rack, but don't know where to start. I have a whole sport rack with a few trad cams. I just want to know besides the full cam set, what else do I need to get?

Some stoppers, hexes, tri-cams, and a lot of slings and biners.I would say start with the basics: NUTS they are cheap and light weight. You can never have too many. Also taking a class from a local climbing club its a good way to practice with trad gear and figure out what kind of rack works for you. Cams are great but loosing a $50 cam instead of a $10 nut sucks.Spend money wisely now, and you won't need to re-buy things later! Friends are good (its the page this question is on!) but I prefer camalots. Get a set. 1 set of nuts, like the BD stoppers. Tri-cams and hexes- don't bother, you will stop using them down the road, and although they are great pieces of gear, they never come out with me. I would add to your draws with 6 shoulder length slings (skinny ones) and at least one biner for each, same with your cams, at least one biner with each. And lastly, take a learn to climb trad course from a respectable guide service. Clubs can go either way, depending on the member teaching, but I would say hiring a certified guide (AMGA in the US and ACMG in canada) will steer you down the right path!

I have many models of cams, Wild Country are some of my farorite. They are easy to place, have a great camming range and are lighter than some other similar cams. The color coding is great. The only thing I dont like is that cam size numbering is not universal. But thats an issue for the manufacturers. Overall this is a great set of cams for someone looking to get into climbing or someone looking to buy a whole set of cams.
